It will take you less than an hour to drive to the gorgeous sandy beaches of the Bay of the Somme from Camping Les Prés Marcotte – but the owners of this family-run site reckon you might never make it that far, given all the things they’ve got for you to do on site… This is a place that goes all out to make sure no one gets bored during their holidays. There is a covered pool complex with a heated main pool (open from mid June to the end of August) and a paddling pool (open July and August) with colourful mini slides and other water features. There are also sun loungers for those who’d rather chill out. Away from the pool, you might like to play pétanque, billiards or table football, gather pals for a game of football or basketball, or spend some quiet time fishing for trout and sturgeon in the site’s ponds. Meanwhile, the large play area and trampoline should keep the kids busy for a good amount of time. And the activity doesn’t end there, because the summer season sees all sorts of extra activities laid on, including kids’ clubs, themed meals, night swims and karaoke evenings. A real highlight is the 14 July celebration, with rides, live music and a fireworks display. Practicalities have all been well thought out too: the site has a bar serving cool drinks and pizzas, a barbecue area, a laundry room and a well-kept toilet/shower block. Shops and other amenities are five minutes’ drive away in Doullens.

Local attractions

If you do manage to drag yourselves away from the site, a good place to start is the Bay of the Somme. Le Crotoy (an hour's drive) is a lovely little town with a sandy beach, boat trips, horse riding and watersports including kayaking and kite surfing. For a wilder stretch of coast, head to Park Marquenterre (an hour) for nature trails and birdwatching among sand dunes and forest. Another great option is a day out in Amiens (45 minutes) – the city is home to a stunning Gothic cathedral, the Picardy Museum and the Jules Verne House as well as some gorgeous half-timbered houses and 750 acres of water gardens known as Hortillonnages. For attractions closer to home, take a stroll around the citadel in Doullens (five minutes), take the kids to meet farm animals at Paradis Konyka (10 minutes) or explore the lovely Jardins de Sericourt (20 minutes). There are several nice paths to follow nearby if you just fancy a gentle day of walking/bike riding around local villages.

Staff are a hit for friendliness, scenery is lovely. Great spot for Amiens and war memorials. Some issues: dated toilet block, closed bar-restaurant in Sept, fishing costs, no toilet paper, and limited pitch amenities. Manager is aware of toilet block floor repairs.

Liked The site was lovely great pool nice and quiet owners were respectful always say hello clean and tidy

Disliked Office always closed bar never open owners dog not very friendly and let their own kids do what they want nearly hurt another kid very basic

Liked Nice location. Good swimming pool. Football pitch/ basketball.

Disliked No toilet paper/ soap in the toilets. Having to wear a paper bracelet for the entire stay. Difficulties knowing how to correctly use the electical sockets.
Seems like there were only gravel pitches?

From the manager: Bonjour, 15e ce n'est pas le prix de la journée ... Oui, pas de papier car des personnes malintentionnées en mettent partout. Un lavabo est largement suffisant pour 5 emplacements. Vous devez faire erreur car il y a au moins une animation par jour. Oui, il y a des clients qui veulent de l'electricite sur emplacement et d'autres qui sont la qu'une nuit et qui n'en n'ont pas besoin. Cordialement.

Liked Very friendly welcome. Scenic site. Level pitch.

Disliked I'm afraid that we didn't like this site. It was very pretty but the toilet block was disgusting. The site is almost all statics, chalets and residents with very little thought given to tourers. The impressive looking bar-restaurant was closed, even though there were enough non-tourers on site to make it viable.

From the manager: Merci pour l’avis mais même s’il y a des résidents cela ne veut pas dire qu’ils vont venir au bar, la preuve il est fermé. Tout le monde a repris le boulot et les enfants en route pour l’école. La saison estivale termine vers le 15 août.
Pour les sanitaires, ils ont 5 ans mais le sol est dans son jus et a 40 ans. Nous veillerons à cela comme travaux prochains. Cordialement, bonne continuation au plaisir !

Liked Great location, staff very friendly and helpful. The scenery was amazing.
Well aware of the star rating for campsites in France and this met my expectations and with the location it went beyond. Was a great location to visit Amiens and also the war memorials in northern France

Le Mimosa 2 bedroom mobile home (four person)

Liked Très contente de mon séjour passé dans ce camping. De bons moments de détente pour se ressourcer et de pêche dans les lacs. Un personnel très accueillant et à l'écoute
