Un lovely lakeside bar is there for thirsty guests at family-run Campilô in the Vendée, a place with a definite watery theme, set between two lakes and with two fishing ponds for guests' use.
Et the land is nicely smart as well. Campilô is among 16 acres of parkland surrounded by a pine forest and is 25 kilometres from the Vendée coastline just south of the town of La Roche-sur-Yon.
All is expertly run here by Nathalie and her team, who have added a playground and a multisports area along with a barbecue area, a small shop and free wifi. Bread, pastries and ice cream are available on site in high season.

Leisure, leisure everywhere… get stuck into watery sports like canoeing around Campilô, or activities strenuous and gentle among the area's football, golf and crazy golf, karting, paintballing and laser games, squash and tennis. Walking and horse riding trails are also nearby.
The Zoo des Sables d'Olonne and the thematic fish tanks of the Seventh Continent Aquarium are both within easy reach, and the Campilô crew also urges you to take the chance to visit the Puy du Fou, France's historical theme park.
Seaside resort Saint-Vincent-sur-Jard is about 25km from base, on the south Vendée coast facing the island of Ré; it's a fine idea to take a trip to the island of Ré too.
