A peaceful and family-friendly vibe reigns at Pays de la Loire’s Camping Le Welcome. And if you’re into fishing, lazing on long sandy beaches and pottering around pretty towns, then it’s probably a fabulous base for you and your family.
This is a great location for all those low-key activities: Plage de Sorlock is 20 minutes’ walk away and Lanséria half an hour, and Guérande is 15 minutes’ drive. In fact, this whole area is pretty laidback, with lots of beaches, small villages and natural landscapes to explore.
Set on roughly five acres of landscaped parkland, the site has a heated indoor swimming complex with a retractable roof, which opened in 2024 and also has a small pool for novices and toddlers. Whenever you feel the need for some pampering, a hot tub awaits to soak away all your aches and pains.
Young kids can spend time on slides, swings and a trampoline in the playground, while teens try out team games like homeball or play rounds on the 11-hole mini-golf course. Get the family together to play pétanque or table tennis (bring your own rackets and balls); in July and August there’s also table football and billiards to ramp up your evenings with family and friends.
Foodwise, you’re covered in high season with a bread and pastry delivery service, takeaway drinks, ice cream and snacks (the latter available from noon to evening). There’s a basics shop on site too, so you should never go short on the essentials.

Fancy some beach time? Your nearest beach, Plage de Sorlock (20 minutes' walk) is a really lovely one, with soft sands and a programme of kids' activities in the summer months.You can also walk to the equally excellent Plage de Lanséria in about half an hour, or set off to Plage de Pen-Bé (15 minutes' drive), a famed spot for fishing and shellfish collectors.
Sticking to the open air but with a bit more activity, you might like to take walks through the Marais Salants de Guérande (20 minutes), play a round at Golf Guérande (15 minutes) or swing through the trees at Monkey Forest adventure park (10 minutes). Gentle strolls around places like Mesquer (five minutes) and La Turballe (15 minutes) are also nice ways to fill a day.
The medieval town of Guérande (15 minutes), surrounded by solid ramparts, is well worth a visit – there are lots of attractive churches and historic buildings to see within the city walls.
