It's free, quick and easy!
- Nature-rich site with fishing ponds, woodland and a sports area
- A 20-minute drive from Doullens and 40 from Naours and Azincourt
- Bar, brasserie, trampoline, sports facilities and pétanque courts
Blend a break basking in the countryside – with a bit of fishing, wandering through woods and pétanque contests to fill a laidback agenda – with a little liveliness at Camping La Chute D'Eau, in rural Rebreuve-sur-Canche with organised shows and dancing by night.
This 3.5-hectare park in the Pas-de-Calais department, part of the Hauts-de-France region, has a couple of ponds for angling (open April to October) amid a green and serene landscape circled by walking paths. And for folk who prefer their activities more, well, active? The sports area is set up for football, volleyball and badminton, plus there are mountain biking and quad biking trails to speed off towards in the surrounds.
If you’re not one for exercising while holidaying (and who could blame you…), supervise the kids at the trampoline and bouncy castle or just pull up a pew at the bar and brasserie and settle in for sups and snacks.
You could also go for gentle jaunts in the woods or down by the river before turning your attention to sightseeing; there are historical hotspots aplenty nearby, including the handsome Château de Cercamp (five minutes away) and the site of the Battle of Agincourt (40 minutes).

Local attractions
Quench any curiosity about the local area by visiting Azincourt (35 minutes’ drive) – made famous by the Battle of Agincourt in the Hundred Years' War – or skip forward a fair few years with a trip to the Underground City of Naours (40 minutes), a series of tunnels filled with at least 3,000 bits of graffiti drawn by First World War soldiers.
Have a gander above ground at the Jardins Sericourt (10 minutes) next, an outdoor space designed by Yves Gosse de Gorre with a rose tunnel and award-winning topiary, then embrace all things urban in Doullens (20 minutes) by visiting the Renaissance citadel, the Notre Dame chapel’s much-lauded belfry and the town hall’s unorthodox commandment room.
More of the same is to be seen in the attractive city of Amiens, known for its gothic cathedral and the Quartier St-Leu neighbourhood labyrinthine streets. Don’t miss the floating market gardens on the canals while here or the artefacts and art in the Musée de Picardie.
Kids behaved well while being cajoled into strolling around cities? Reward them with rides on the attractions at the Parc Bagatelle theme park (an hour).
