It's free, quick and easy!
- Spacious family-friendly site on the banks of Etang du Stock
- Beach a couple of minutes' walk away; 15 minutes' drive to animal park
- Restaurant, pool, wellness centre and summer evening entertainment
If you like a lake view as the backdrop for your holiday, you’ve certainly come to the right place with a stay at Camping La Tour du Stock – this Moselle site is right on the edge of the Etang du Stock, one of the largest bodies of water in eastern France.
This, of course, means plenty of pretty views to be had from this site – and on top of that, there’s also lake access for fishing, watersports and swims/paddles from the beach area. You might also like to take a stroll along the wooded trails by the lake’s edge (or hire bikes on site to set off on pedal-based jaunts) or up to the village of Langatte, two kilometres away, to purchase bits at the boulangerie.
All of that makes a good start on the relaxation front – but if you need a little extra help, head to the site’s wellness centre to spend time in the pool (with massage nozzles and water heated to around 32ºC), sauna, hammam and jacuzzi. Meanwhile, the rest of the family can be kept busy at the games room, the play area, the tennis court or the pétanque court.
Save a little bit of energy for the evening though – if you’re here in summer, there’s entertainment every weekday evening (the likes of pétanque competitions, foam parties and meals on the beach). A restaurant, bar and takeaway are also on site to provide sustenance for all.

Local attractions
The beach by the site is likely to be your first port of call – especially in summer, when it’s boosted by canoe, kayak and pedalo rentals and a waterslide for kids to splash down. If it’s not the weather for outdoor swims, head off instead to the Aqua Mundo waterpark (25 minutes’ drive).
Another attraction that’s likely to feature on most schedules is the Parc animalier de Sainte-Croix (15 minutes), where you can wander along raised walkways to peer down at all sorts of animals (including lemurs, gibbons and bears) living in semi-natural habitats. There are plenty of ways to get a culture fix too: visit ancient Château du Haut-Barr (45 minutes), check out Musée Lalique (50 minutes) or take a sombre walk around the former concentration camp at Struthof (an hour).
For a big city day out, it’ll take about an hour to drive to either Nancy or Strasbourg. Or, if you’ve not got the kids with you on holiday, perhaps you’d like to take a tour of the Alsace wineries – there are several within an hour’s drive.
