Want to have a go at paddleboarding or windsurfing? The instructors at Base Outdoor Gamaches (five minutes’ drive) will show you the ropes before leaving you free to glide on (and occasionally fall in…) the waters of a large lake close to La Bresle river. If you’d rather stay dry, archery and speedball are also available here. Dating from the 15th century, Château fort de Rambures (15 minutes) is an impressive structure with distinctive turrets and elegantly appointed rooms. The spectacular grounds include a rose garden and a medieval-inspired area planted with medicinal herbs. In the northern fringes of the Forêt Domaniale d’Eu, Briga - Archaeological site of the Bois l’Abbé (20 minutes) features the remains of an ancient Gallo-Roman town, including a sanctuary. About a kilometre away is the Jungle Karlostachys Garden, with bamboo groves and colourful collections of rhododendrons and passion flowers.
