  • Large family-friendly site 10 minutes' drive from Bogny-sur-Meuse
  • Next to a voie verte trail for walks and bike rides
  • Direct access to the Semois river for fishing and canoe trips
Ah, the Ardennes – an area with oodles to offer for folks of all travelling tastes. Snaffle a stay at Domaine d'Haulmé and you’ll be within easy reach of this scenic area’s many outdoorsy activities, history-tinged wanderings and places to sample local foodie (and beery) delights. The immediate surrounds of this eight-hectare site are decidedly rural, with a forest on one side and the banks of the Semois river on the other. Canoes and kayaks can be hired on site for folk with a penchant for paddling, and a voie verte trail passes very close by for those who’d prefer to stick to dry land and explore on foot, by bike or on horseback. Bike hire can be sorted on site too, and horse-drawn carriage rides are available. It’s not far removed from urban amenities, however – the little village of Haulmé is a kilometre away, and a leisurely 10-minute drive gets you to the supermarket, shops and restaurants of bigger Bogny-sur-Meuse. A small shop is also available on site. Both options seem a little too far to stray in search of food? No matter – the site’s restaurant is open throughout the year for easy eats, and its bar area is equally welcoming for those who find themselves in need of a cold beer. If it’s not quite beer time yet, there’s still the chance to cool off on a warm day with a dip in the outdoor pool. A playing field and plenty of playground kit are also on hand for those with energetic enfants to entertain.

Local attractions

Raring to get active? Get your boots on and stretch your legs on the voie verte trail that runs past the site. You can ride bikes along the same trail too, pedalling all the way to Belgium should you wish (only an hour away, and worth it for the multi-country bragging rights). To see the surrounds from a greater height and speed, the ziplines and bungee jumps at Terraltitude adventure park, half an hour away, might be more your style. Feet back on solid ground, consider taking in a bit of history with visits to the Château-Fort de Sedan (50 minutes’ drive and the largest of its kind in Europe) and the Roman settlement at Vireux-Molhain (35 minutes). 20th-century goings-on are detailed at the World War II-themed Musée de la Bataille Mai-Juin 40 (an hour’s drive). It’s worth shuttling off to Charleville-Mézières (half an hour) if you’re into your art and artefacts: the Arthur Rimbaud Museum and Musée de l’Ardenne are both crammed with bits to peruse. Follow up by popping over to Le Grand Marionnettiste monumental clock, where 12 different scenes play out on the hour across the day; if you can’t spare time for them all, schedule a Saturday evening visit to see them all in one go.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Location for exploring Ardennes/ Meuse area and staff were ok

Disliked: All needs a bit of a tidy up bit like 1970s which is cool in a way - could be great

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: Beautiful spot, very peaceful and quiet. The showers had lovely hot water, as did the washing up area. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming.

Disliked: The site is very run down, most of the facilities very shabby. It has the look of a place that has been neglected for a long time. There was no toilet paper, soap or drying equipment. The floors were constantly swimming in water.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: When we stayed we had most of the MH pitches to ourselves. Weather wasn't lovely but pool was warm and we swam alone. Site facilities were outdated but clean so don't let this put you off.
The drive to this site is interesting but again don't let it put you off as well worth a visit.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Absolutely nothing, we left within 10 minutes.

Disliked: Unfortunately the campsite was not as presented online. Campsite was really crowded, with large groups, playing loud music and drinking.

Most pitches are narrow and close to each other. 3 pitches at the end had a Little more feeling of privacy but were already taken.

As you don’t get a spot, but can pitch up where ever you like, it becomes a mess.

After driving 3 rounds, already being disappointed, we found a place, but when we opened the door, we instantly heard music.

We decided this wasn’t a good and safe place to stay with 2 young kids and a dog.

I went back to the reception for a refund (as there was no cancellation policy and we were not going to stay). The owner informed me to get back to pitchup for the refund as the contract should be with them. If it wouldn’t work out, he would handel it.

Pitch Up informed me that the contract is with the campsite. Ever since, the owner did not reply and neither provided the refund.

So in all: don’t go, and also check Google… things are going downhill and are dirty…

Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures.

From the manager: Dear Evi, We are really Sorry that you didn't find the rest you wanted at our place. I tried to be convenient when you came at the reception to complain, to come with you on the pitch to find a perfect place for you and your family, but you categorically refused. Perhaps that your unsafetiness comes from the fact that we had on the field people of another religion, another culture. We are sorrry to announc you that we accept everybody, regardless of their skin color. For us, losing a customer for this reason will always be a good reason to loose a customer. Concerning the refund, we are currently speaking together, and we agree to reimburse you, I don't see what I can do best. About looking on google, I confirm that people rearding this message should do it : On the 139 last reviews given on the last 4 month, only 12 are below the average (less dthant 3/5 or 5/10), and 99 reviews gives the max score of 5/5 or 10/10. Those 99 reviewers must not lie... Again, I am sorry that you didn't like our well loved place. We are disappointed that we cannot get along with everyone. That's life... Regards, Benoit
