  • Family-friendly campsite in a peaceful location by the Cher river
  • Four kilometres from the historic centre of Tours and the Loire
  • On-site shop; fresh bread/pastries daily; municipal pool next door
Peaceful, green and under 15 minutes' drive from the historic centre of Tours, Camping Onlycamp Tours Val de Loire is a popular campsite on the banks of the river Cher in France's attractive Indre-et-Loire department. Guests here have a good range of facilities, are right next to a municipal swimming pool and have the surrounding area's châteaux and vineyards within easy reach. The site is on totally level ground, making arrivals and departures easy no matter what you're driving. As well as essential amenities like toilets and showers, Camping Onlycamp Tours Val de Loire has a handy on-site shop where you can pick up ice creams, snacks, drinks and local products. You can also wander down to reception to chat to the site team about any questions you might have or to buy tickets for some of the region's best attractions (several of which offer a discounted rate for Camping Onlycamp Tours Val de Loire guests). The public pool just a few steps away is open all year round, with a large main pool, a paddling area, a sauna and a sun deck to take advantage of. And breakfast? Between April and October you can order fresh bread and pastries the night before and enjoy them on your pitch.

What customers say

Great location, friendly, peaceful spot near Tours & River Cher. Spacious, level pitches, good waste. BUT, dated, sometimes unclean loos/showers. WiFi & hot water need work. Some see it as a stopover.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Hi we only stayed the one night but the reception was extremely welcoming even with the language barrier, All was explained clear and concise and wow what a view, pure bliss and harmony with the landscape. I would recommend a stay here any time of the year but be prepared for the winter if that is your chosen time of escape.

Disliked Only one issue that wasn’t the fault of the site, The whole town lost its water supply so no washing facilities or toilets…….. we had this on board the Motorhome so didn't mind in the slightest. 10/10 all the way.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Relatively quiet area of Tours, luckily we had wonderful sunshine for two days .. Tours was an excellent city to visit (Not to be missed).
The site was well appointed but sadly facilities are getting a little tired. Didn’t like the fact that you just “Pitched up and drove around to find a spot, seemed a little odd as spaces are not clearly numbered, not all had electricity and water was only available at one point on the site. Exiting the site was easy and Grey and Chemical waste both very well maintained.
Reception Staff are very helpful and happy to help with any issues you may have. Would we stay again I think the answer would be yes … No real reason not too I’d say. Thank you

Disliked As above the ability to identify a space to use was not very helpful but it sort of was OK?!

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Peaceful site on the edge of the pretty riverside village of Saint Avertin which has shops and eateries. Little shop on site with fresh pastries and drinks, toilets and showers a little outdated but were clean and plentiful. Good pitches with electric and grey and black waste facilities, water point, bike hire, camping pods and chalets, pool next door I think you can use but we didn’t. Restaurant and bar next door too. Lovely spot to stop en route to the south of Spain.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Lots of different areas with nice level pitches to choose from, electricity if needed, peaceful site, bike hire, water, grey waste and toilet emptying, easy booking online and decent showers. Short walk to the beautiful Saint Avertin village with river Cher. Lovely spot and easy to get to Tours via bus or cab.

Disliked Toilets were clean but could do with upgrade.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Large pitches and quiet

Disliked No toilet seats on all toilets, so didn't use.
Ran out of toilet paper by morning in all toilets, so husband couldn't use.
Paid for pitch, told nothing regarding water, or waste water, lack of information on arrival.
Ran out of maps for Tours, not encouraging to explore Tours.
Paid for a 2nd night only because it was convenient, no other reason.
Was not told WiFi.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Great basic site, great Location for travelling around the Loire Valley
Quiet despite being near to a commercial area
Friendly helpful staff
Plenty of showers, toilets, wash basins & dish washer facilities.

Disliked Not much to dislike, A lot of the showers leaked and sprayed onto the floor plus the toilets are separate to the showers.

Local attractions

Tours is very well set up for outdoor living. In the high season, you can hire bikes at reception and pedal three kilometres to the start of the city's designated bike trail, or you might prefer to just head out along the banks of the Loire river and see where you end up. Keeping things alfresco, there's also a large open-air lido 10 minutes' drive away at Piscine du Lac, while watersports fans can hire kayaks and canoes at Tours & Canoë (15 minutes away). The city centre is rich in history, with half a dozen top-tier museums, art galleries and exhibition spaces to explore. Some of the places you'll definitely want to see include the pedestrianised streets lined with half-timbered houses around Place Plumereau, the ornate Cathédrale Saint-Gatien, Saint-Cosme Priory and the gorgeous botanic gardens. Slightly further afield, the Loire region's many castles are close for day trips, with the site recommending spots like the Château de Villandry (25 minutes), the Château de Chenonceau (30 minutes) and the Château Royal d'Amboise (30 minutes). The area has lots of vineyards you can get to know as well – to sample a wide variety of top local wines, head to the Cave de Vouvray (15 minutes) for one of their tasting tours.
