- Family-friendly site in Auvergne, five mins' drive from Blot-l’Église
- A 15-minute drive from the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park
- Bar-restaurant, pool, two playgrounds, tennis, ping pong and pétanque
Hols with the kids can come with a whole load of extra complication. Like keeping them entertained, making sure there’s plenty of room for burning off energy, and being absolutely sure that they won’t be going on about being bored... Not a prob at Juliette Tentvakanties at Camping La Coccinelle, a family-friendly site less than five minutes’ drive from the Auvergne village of Blot-l’Église.
This kid-friendly place has two playgrounds to keep them busy, ping pong and pétanque to keep competitive spirits flowing, a tennis court for little Federers, and a swimming pool when a cooling dip is needed – plus there’s a climbing wall for older kids (and mum and dad) when site days need loftier pursuits.
There’s a bar-restaurant on site too, so no need for jaunts in the car, and the regular theme evenings will keep everyone wanting to go back for more. If a change of scenery really is required there are a handful of restaurants in Blot-l’Église, and breakfasts are sorted with fresh bread from the local shop.
When days off site beckon, the site is well placed for adventuring. Call into reception for maps of scenic routes to take, or set off for the hikes and bike rides of the spectacular Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, France's biggest and accessible within 15 minutes' drive.

Start with a stroll around the village of Blot-l’Église: take tours of the village’s craft oilery (where they make flavoured vinegars, mustards, foie gras, biscuits and loads more) and nearby cheese farms, then head to the riding school five minutes’ drive away for horseback excursions.
The Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park is under 15 minutes from base for hikes, scenic train rides, châteaux, paragliding and loads more. It's all fully safe these days as the volcanoes are dormant; to feel what an eruption would be like, head to Vulcania (35 minutes) to try the earthquake simulator.
If that’s not doing the job, Millevaches en Limousin and Livradois-Forez regional parks are both within about an hour, and the stunning Gorges de la Sioule is 15 minutes away – or you could dive below the surface at the Grotte de la Perre de Volvic, half an hour from the site.
Give the kids a couple of last treats with the animals and rides at Le PAL theme park, an hour and a half away, or stick closer to home among the dinosaurs at Paleopolis (30 minutes). Travelling without the sprogs? Opt then for blissful days in the nearby spa towns of Royat, Mont-Dire, La Bourboule and Vichy – that last comes with a recommendation from Napoleon himself.
