- Spacious site with private beach on Lake Biscarrosse
- A 15-minute drive from Mimizan beach; half an hour from Biscarrosse
- Indoor and outdoor pools, plus kids' clubs and teens' club
Lake, forest and beach… it’s a hat-trick of excellent location points for Aquitaine site Camping La Réserve, which is not only on the banks of Lake Biscarrosse and in the midst of the scenic Landes Forest but also around 15 minutes’ drive from the lovely beach resort of Mimizan.
That lakeside location brings with it more than just splendid scenery – it also gives the site its own private beach area, with a gentle slope that’s just the ticket for paddling kids and those who’d like to launch watersports kit. If you don’t fancy taking your dips in the lake, head for either the outdoor pool (with paddling pool, waterslides and water games) or the indoor heated pool and spa. The pool complex has lifeguards on duty to make sure that splashing is as safe as can be.
Elsewhere around the site are plenty of other things to do, whether you select to play a game of tennis, catch something at the entertainment venue or hire bikes to pedal along the site’s cycle path and beyond. Nippers’ activities are big news here too: the site has a toddlers’ room (with ball pool and art supplies), two age-appropriate kids’ clubs (with treasure hunts, games, talent shows and the like) and a teens’ club with sports and activities designed for their age group.
For eats in amongst all this activity, guests can grab a table at the site restaurant or light up a barbecue for alfresco dining – the village of Gastes is a five-minute drive away for supplies from shops and a supermarket.

Local attractions
Up for some watersports action? You need only skip next door to the activity centre that offers sailing lessons, windsurfing, paddleboarding and kayaking to fill your days with. Once you’ve had a taste of that, take your newfound skills off to Mimizan (15 minutes’ drive) for sea-bound watersports or barrel up to Biscarrosse beach (half an hour) for surf lessons, land yachting and kitesurfing.
If you fancy a bit of time on dry land, make for Mimizan’s pretty La Promenade Fleurie trail or set off to explore the stunning Dune du Pilat (45 minutes’ drive), where you can scramble up 110 metres of Europe’s tallest sand dune if you’re feeling strong. If that’s a tad too high, maybe take on the treetop trails of Hostens Aventure activity park instead (50 minutes).
Back down at ground level, guests may like to learn a little about the local way of life at Musée Des Traditions (25 minutes) and Écomusée de Marquèze (40 minutes), or take sips of some of the world’s top wines on an outing to Bordeaux (an hour and a half).
