  • Dog-friendly pitches on a farm in the Dordogne Valley
  • A 25-minute drive from Sarlat-la-Canéda and 45 minutes from Rocamadour
  • Outdoor pool and playground on site; barbecues welcome
If exploring the darling Dordogne Valley is on this year’s wish list, Camping La Périgourdine might be the final puzzle piece you need. Based on a farm in the Dordogne area, under a kilometre’s walk away from the river, this site with large shaded pitches makes a splendid base for exploring. The farm is 10 minutes’ drive away from Saint-Julien-de-Lampon, where there are shops and restaurants, and within walking distance of a greenway for bike rides and a watersports centre that can organise canoeing down the Dordogne river. Camping La Périgourdine is a 25-minute drive away from Sarlat-la-Canéda, a medieval town where you’ll surely want to get your hands on local products like duck, goose, foie gras, cheese and truffle in the Jean Nouvel food market, the Sarlat Market or restaurants. Rocamadour, a clifftop village with stunning views, is 45 minutes’ drive away too. After a day of strolling, eating, canoeing or snapping photos, return to base for a dip in the outdoor pool before dinner. Snacks and ice cream can be purchased on site; if you want to cook something bigger, bringing a barbecue along is a good idea. Facilities on site include toilets, showers and a playground.

What customers say

Guests had a relaxed, friendly stay. Praised: spacious pitches, small pool, good value, great location for exploring, and river cycle path. Some wished for more modern/ample facilities for peak times. One guest felt it looked abandoned on arrival, but this wasn't common.

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked Lots of space and very relaxed, facilities are basic but clean. If you like a low key campsite then you should definitely consider this one. Great cycle path runs outside the gate.

Disliked It’s either cash or bank transfer, no card payments which was a pain.
No marked pitches or hard standing could be an issue for some?
Bins, recycling and chemical toilets could be added too.

Liked Lovely little basic campsite in a great location. Really friendly and helpful hosts. Although dated, the shower and toilet facilities were clean with plenty of hot water. We stayed in September and the site was really quiet which suited us, and we would definitely stay there again. Thanks ❤️

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked This was a lovely small site with good facilities and spacious pitches.
The small swimming pool was also perfect for a cooling off dip.
Good value and an ideal location for exploring Souillac, and local places of interest. An excellent off road cycling path nearby with takes you along the Dordogne River in either direction.

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked We loved this place. It was very affordable, quaint and had a very friendly and relaxed attitude. The camp bar was abustle each day and the pool was small and cooling. Table tennis. We walked through some fields to a river where we spent a day swimming under the train bridge. Loved it.

Liked Sfeer en de eigenaar/eigenaresse. Super aardig en attent. Heerlijk zwembad.

Disliked Sanitair mag wel wat moderner. Te beperkt aantal douches voor in het hoogseizoen.

Local attractions

Lush green views above land – and below? Well, in Lacave (25 minutes’ drive), 12 prehistoric limestone caves await, linked by an underground train. The small village above is on the banks of the river Dordogne and is just as lovely as the scenes below ground. Another stunning Dordogne Valley destination is Domme (half an hour), a medieval town 150 metres above the valley. A typical bastide town, it has plenty of excellent bars and cafés with views, and if you haven’t already been underground enough for one holiday, the 450-metre-long Grotte de Domme is one of the town’s big attractions. Gouffre de Padirac (50 minutes) is another attraction with an underground theme. A lift can transport you down a 75-metre chasm, one of the biggest in Europe. Time for some history, perhaps? Pay a visit to the 800-year-old Château de Fénelon (15 minutes), a castle with stunning turrets.
