Sink into the area surrounding Camping Les Portes d'Alsace near Savern, in France's Alsace region and close to Strasbourg. It's a place of nature and history, influenced by French and German culture, and an area with seven (oui, seven) different grape varieties and many (many) scenic wine routes. This is castle land too: so much so that one can be seen from your Camping Les Portes d'Alsace pitch... Les Portes d'Alsace is in a green setting between the town of Saverne and Château du Haut-Barrr, in a land of châteaux, forests, valleys, and hiking, biking and horse riding trails. It has a covered pool, bike hire, a convenience store and a snack bar selling ice creams, drinks and light bites. Bread and pastries to pick up the next morning can be ordered in high season. The Les Portes d'Alsace team runs an entertainment programme during the main summer months.

Liked Good quality water

Disliked On arrival which pitch up stated check in was from 2pm the reception was shut and we were left waiting outside the site on the main road
The receptionist arrived at 14.20 and she told me I had to wait 10 minutes in 30 degree temperatures
When she let me in at 14.30 she was angry stating that check in wasn't until 4pm
However on following days french and Belgian travellers were arriving and pitching up from early morning and throughout tge day becore 4pm ???
Dogs off leads wandering around interfering with my wallks spoiling my stay
People seem to think because their dogs are alright that that's ok for the rest of us I had to kindly ask a Belgian couple to keep their dog under control as per strict site rules
If I can adhere to that then why can't everyone else

Hoping to book a few days May 2026 to explore the Marne au Rhin canal.

Liked Lovely shaded plot, and within easy access of the cooling piscine as well as the convivial Fri/Sat restaurant bar - enjoyed a delicious dinner ...

Disliked Our neighbour erected a toilet tardis next to our table which we later moved... seemed an unnecessary privet given the excellent sanitaires.

From the manager: The entire team would like to thank you for your comment. We are delighted to see that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are delighted that you took the time to leave us a comment.
We look forward to seeing you again, or at one of our Seasonova Group campsites.

Definitely will return due to fabulous location and great campsite.

Liked Loved refreshing piscine and Vendredi/Samedi resto. Quiet and shaded pitch was perfect. Helpful, friendly bilingual staff, and clean sanitaires made our stay very enjoyable.
Saverne provided an excellent lively market and live music... beautiful atmosphere.

Powered grass and gravel campsite

A peaceful and well appointment caravan and camping site.

Liked Shady large generous pitch, good water and lovely toilets with music. Excellent flambé pizza evening with music at the campsite bar and lovely bread and pastries to order for each morning. A brilliant overnight stay when en route into Germany. Useful email with pitch number and barrier code before arrival.

Disliked Low bollards around the site which might catch a car or side of caravan

Highly recommend, beautiful spot

Liked Great, clean, family friendly campsite. Showers and washing up areas were spotless. Pool area was great for the kids. Saverne is also a lovely little town. Definitely recommend seeing Chateur Haut Barr for some lovely views. Also the beer served at the campsite snack bar was delicious 👌🏼

Local attractions

Staying near Savern is a super spot to find the hiking, biking and hacking trails of Alsace, as well as the archaeological and religious history of the area. Over 260 kilometres of marked trails are around this region, passing valleys and forests as well as castles such as the aforementioned Château du Haut-Barr, a fortified castle with spectacular views over the plain of Alsace and the Vosges. The nearby Saint-Louis-Arzviller inclined plane, part of the Marne-Rhine Canal, is one of the most-visited river sites in France and it is ingeniously how vessels can flow up the canal over the Vosges Mountains. Boat, train rides and visits to the engine room are all available to find out more. Another popular option in the area is the otter and stork park in Hunawihr, along the Alsace Wine Route and home to around 200 storks as well as ducks and European otters.
