Within a splendid landscape of agricultural fields and dense tree copses, Camping 2000 is a well-equipped site a 25-minute drive from Liberec, in the northern reaches of Czechia, close (well… close-ish, about 40 minutes’ drive) to the German and Polish borders. Guests here can wake up to (and spend the day admiring, if they so wish) views of the forested Jizera Hills, before throwing themselves into the various activities available on and near the site. These include swimming in the outdoor pool with waterslides (or just kicking back on a poolside sun lounger with a cool Pilsner or a tropical cocktail from the bar), and fishing or canoeing in the river Ploučnice, which runs along the edge of the property. Teens who feel like flopping out might head to the TV room, while younger kids can join the organised entertainment, which includes craft workshops, sporting tournaments and baby discos. After dark, the activity programme opens out to grownups as well, with things like bingo sessions and Sunday evening barbecues. The site also has a restaurant, a pizza place and a snack bar, and there are more dining options in the small towns of Osečná (five minutes) and Český Dub (10 minutes). And don’t worry about your canine companions getting restless: the on-site dog park means that they, too, get to have their time in the sun. The site also has a toilet/shower block (with access for disabled guests), a launderette, a washing-up area and ice-pack freezing facilities.

Great staff, spotless facilities, and a lovely restaurant. Beautiful, peaceful, and family-friendly with lots of promise. New washrooms are a highlight. Watch for low branches on motorhomes and café queues. No shop on site.

Liked Very tucked away campsite. Busy but spacious. Plenty to keep children entertained. Pitch was XL and a great size. Lots to do nearby and very easy to get to and from Prague. Swimming pool was great. Reception staff were fantastic btw.

Disliked The map could do with being updated with water points and waste points (I couldn’t see them).

Liked Nice pool, good range of activities for children and teenagers throughout the day and families and adults in the evening. Clean amenities. Reception staff friendly and helpful.

Disliked Bar staff were often rude. Pitches although generous size many campers encroached on neighbouring pitches particularly tents onto motor home pitches, which made manoeuvring difficult. Unable to use disabled facilities because nobody knew where the key was. Two washers for 200 pitches is no where near enough.

Disliked The site was super full and it felt like it could have done with spacing folk out more instead of having them all together. The pitch was a decent size but you are all crammed in.

Liked Schöne große Stellplätze, hübsche Anlage mit viel Potential.
Sehr nette Betreiber.
Im Sommer ist der Platz sicher sehr beliebt und voll.

Disliked Leider waren noch Bauarbeiten an den Sanitäranlagen im Gange und das Restaurant war auch noch nicht geöffnet. Die Betreiber waren wohl noch nicht so richtig auf Gäste eingestellt.

Liberec (25 minutes’ drive) is dotted with elegant buildings from its time as an affluent city in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, when it was known as Reichenberg. These include the 19th-century town hall, with an ornate façade and an imposing clock tower, and the opera house F. X. Šalda Theater, with its neo-Baroque interior. In the town centre, DinoPark Liberec Plaza is an indoor amusement park that's a good shout for a family outing. The skiing resort of Harrachov (an hour) has plenty to offer year round – from hiking trails snaking past the Mumlava Falls to a Museum of Glass and a glass factory where you can blow your own delicate souvenir. On hot summer days, you might appreciate the cool temperatures in the shafts and drifts of the Mining Museum. Bohemian Switzerland National Park (an hour and a half) is a large protected area of lush forests and dramatic sandstone cliffs along the banks of the river Elbe. Check out the Pravčická Archway, a vertiginous sandstone bridge, or take a boat ride through the spectacular Kamenice Gorge.
