  • Glamping site with coastal views and access to an Adriatic Sea beach
  • A five-minute drive from Orebić for ferries to Korčula island
  • Seaside swimming pool and bar-restaurant; wifi, cycle hire and fishing
Picture the scene: you, lying back on a lounger and peering out over the top of your sunglasses at dreamy views of Korčula island in the Adriatic Sea. Sounds blissful, no? Then bring your fantasy to life by booking a trip to the beachside Holiday Resort Adriatic on the southern slopes of the Pelješac peninsula. This family-run glamping site in the western part of Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast is built on a series of rocks set in the shade of centuries-old pine and olive trees. Overlooking the water, it’s a prime pick if you prefer your hols with a generous side serving of vistas. The restaurant-bar, which specialises in local cuisine and seafood, and the outdoor swimming pool are niftily positioned to maximise said coastal views, so prepare to spend a large chunk of your time at these parts of the park. Once the novelty of the panoramas begins to wear off (word of warning: this might never happen), seek out some more views by venturing off-site on an hour-long drive to the historic town of Ston, passing the region’s scenic mountains, valleys and coves. And if you’re a massive fan of vino, stay closer by and skip 100 metres down the road to the Mikulic boutique winery belonging to the site and investigate the wine traditions of the Dubrovnik-Neretva area among the old Dalmatian-style decor. Also within walking distance are a bus station (150 metres) and grocery shop (1.5 kilometres). Ferries to Korčula leave from Orebić (five minutes’ drive) if you’d like to visit the island you’ve spent most of the whole hol staring at…

Local attractions

Orebić (five minutes’ drive) has a handful of top-class beaches, some of which have sandy shores if you fancy a change from the site’s pebbly stretch of seaside, while plenty more – like the dreamy Divna (25 minutes) – are easy to access too. Break up sessions soaking up the sun with a walk on Orebić’s waterfront, gazing at the 18th-century houses and gardens as you go by; from here, find the ferry that will take you over to Korčula and amble along some of the 200 kilometres’ worth of countryside footpaths. The island’s also a haven for watersports – try everything from sailing and surfing to sea kayaking and scuba diving – then retreat back to Orebić for hikes along the trails up to Mount Ilija, the peak of the peninsula. Eager for urban adventures? Historical towns like Trpanj (20 minutes) and Ston (55 minutes) are worth visiting for their glorious architecture, while Bosnia is an hour and a quarter away if you’d like to browse the sights of another brill Balkan nation.
