Beach holiday in Blankenberge? By the beach is exactly where you’ll be at Vakantiepark Beachside – this family-friendly holiday park is a mere 50 metres from the beach, the dunes and the sea, so you’ll be able to stroll out onto the sand whenever you like during your stay. The seafront aspect of the location is fabulous, of course – but so is the fact that the park is just on the edge of town, giving you plenty of quiet green space on site while also putting you within easy reach of town-centre amenities. A walk of 10-15 minutes gets you to Blankenberge’s pier, restaurants, a supermarket, shops, a sports centre, a bowling hall and attractions including the Sea Life Centre and the Art Nouveau buildings around the town centre. If you don't want to walk, reach it by bicycle in under five minutes, by car in two minutes, or take the coastal tram which stops right in front of the entrance to the site. Getting around the surrounding area is probably best done by bike – there’s a good bike path running along the seafront, and you can pick up a network of countryside paths nearby too. Bikes can be hired on site if you can’t bring your own, and there are maps available to help you find the best local routes (with walking options available too). For easy trips to other destinations (Bruges being a particular favourite), there are tram stops, bus stops and a railway station. Back on the site there are various facilities available to help you have a comfortable and relaxed stay – these include a launderette, a washing-up area, a wifi service and a bathroom block.

Local attractions

The three-kilometre stretch of beach in Blankenberge may well keep you occupied for a fair amount of your holiday, but that’s not the only thing the town has to offer. You’ll also want to take a stroll along the 350-metre-long pier (perhaps stopping for something to eat on the way, or looking out for one of the regular cultural events) and see more than 5,000 aquatic creatures at Sea Life Blankenberge. Elsewhere along the coast you may also like to take the tram to one of the neighbouring towns like Knokke-Heist (half an hour on the tram) or De Haan (40 minutes) – each has its own character. There’s also a lovely coastal park at Zwin Natuur Park (half an hour's drive), with coastal walking and bike trails through salt marshes and around the lagoon. Inland, you should certainly make time for a visit to Bruges (20 minutes' drive/half an hour by train) to take a boat tour, climb the Belfry, admire the architecture and visit the museums. And if you've got the kids with you, the rides and shows of Plopsaland De Panne (55 minutes) may well be on the cards too…

Powered grass campsite

Liked Very pleasant out of season stay on a flat grass pitch. Good clean toilets and showers and weekend access was well sorted via e mail from campsite with access instructions.

Liked Fantastic site in such a perfect location.
Beach is across the road with tram lines into Blankenberge which is then only one stop on the train to Bruges

Very clean toilet and shower facilities

Lovely staff to help you and very accommodating

Liked Next to the massive, clean beach, just over the high, sand dunes. About a 7 min walk.
Was efficient, well cleaned and tidy. Great showers and clean toilet facilities. Small park, with field for children. 25 min walk to the town centre. Easy walk to the train station, where we got fast trains to Bruges and Ghent.
Tram stop outside the site on the main road, taking you to Blankenberge or Zeebrugge, regularly. So, great transport links and lovely beach very near.

Disliked Check-in is not always through a ‘reception’. They will send an email on the day, so ensure you can access your emails in this area, because the camping location and toilet/shower key card is in a locker. (Details on email.) Check this when you arrive. (But there is a number to call if you have problems.) Very minor dislike, but it’s possibly important for some guests.

Liked Saubere Waschräume, strandnah

Disliked Große Straße ist zu überqueren, um zum Strand zu gelangen, also nichts für kleinere Kinder, die unbegleitet unterwegs sein wollen. Zudem war irgendein Technoevent oder Club in der Nähe. Bis etwa 3 Uhr nachts hat man die Bässe deutlich gehört.

De kluis met de benodigde papieren en sanitaire kaart.

Disliked De niet meegegeven informatie over het aantal inbegrepen douches op de kaart.
Spijtig dat de andere kampeerders niet inzien dat er verdeelborden geplaatst zijn naargelang de kampeerplaats.
Dat er niet meer watervoorzieningen zijn op verschillende plaatsen op de camping.
