  • Family-friendly farm site next to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • A 20-minute drive from St Davids and 40 minutes from Tenby
  • Five minutes' drive from Nolton Haven and Newgale beaches and a pub
Rummage through rockpools, surf over the swells or settle into a secluded spot among sandy beaches – they're all great options on the Pembrokeshire coast. Basking sharks, Risso’s dolphins, jellyfish and turtles return to these sandy coves every year… and it’s easy to see why. With seemingly endless sheltered bays and well-kept fishing villages nearby, The Stables sits right on the border of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and has commanding views over St Brides Bay. Within 20 minutes’ drive of the cathedral city of St Davids and 40 minutes from Tenby's family-friendly centre, this dog-friendly farm site welcomes families to indulge in sea views, city strolls and coastal capers over the clifftops. National trails, reeling in trout or kayaking out to sea? The decision is yours. This site is just five minutes’ drive from Nolton Haven beach, Newgale beach and Rickets Head, with Little Haven beach 15 minutes away too. Further afield, the sheltered harbours of Solva and St Brides are also highly sought after. If all that sea air has you craving fish and chips, there is a pub within a five-minute drive (in Pelcomb) for a takeaway or an open-air drink. Back on site, barbecues and campfires are permitted if you want an extra bite to eat. Handily, you won’t have to go far to source supplies, as there is a shop and petrol station in Pelcomb Cross, five minutes' drive away from the site. There are also bigger supermarkets 10 minutes away in Haverfordwest.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked For the one night we stayed it was super convenient. Pull onto the site, quick call to check in and pitch anywhere.
It was really quite on the site, 2 other pitches but the field is huge.
The facilities are basic but work as you'd need them too and being that there's only 2 toilets and one shower it wasn't a problem on a quite site.
The location is good, it's not far from the coast and close to Haverfordwest.

Disliked We did have 4 pairs of soaked trainers, the weather can't be helped but the grass is left quite long. Good for sleeping on but not great for foot wear and soggy dogs.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very basic but nice campsite.
Open space, so not suitable in heavy wind conditions.

Few facilities (1 toilet female and male each), 1 shower.
But when the campground is empty, very good in my opinion.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Location - small drive to the beaches for sunset, and in the centre of Pembrokeshire so good base to visit the whole region. The toilets were clean, and shower room spacious. Lots of space on field so plenty of privacy even if it's busy.

Disliked The communual bins at entrance of site had not been collected in a while but we still managed to drop our bags in there so it wasn t a big problem

Local attractions

Kids' day out on the cards? Follow the roar of the rollercoasters to Oakwood Theme Park (25 minutes’ drive) or have a little doze on the lazy river at Blue Lagoon Water Park (20 minutes). For more themed fun, children can play pirates or turn farmer for the day aboard a pedal tractor at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (half an hour). There's more action over at the coast. At Marloes Sands (half an hour), the two-mile stretch of sand catches the sea's best waves. If you have the knack for it, you can ride them to shore. And if balancing isn’t your strong suit, you can catch a powerboat from Neyland Marina (25 minutes) and tackle the waves front-on. From St Davids (20 minutes), voyage via ferry to the nature reserve on Ramsey Island, walk the four-mile loop and keep your eyes peeled for burrow-nesting birds and peregrine falcons. Wildlife spotting isn't just for the coast – find more at the wild animal safari at Manor Wildlife Park (35 minutes). Afterwards, celebrate the nature of the past at Dinosaur Park (25 minutes), a friendlier version of Jurassic Park. Castle capers are also close by, with Carew Castle & Tidal Mill (half an hour) and Pembroke Castle (half an hour) harbouring historic turrets.
