Choose a pitch in the meadow campsite

  • Peaceful semi-wild pitches at a Carmarthenshire farm near Cross Hands
  • Llandeilo and Aberglasney Gardens 20 minutes' drive away
  • Easy access from the A48 and M4; fresh chemical-free veg for sale
It’s all classic Carmarthenshire countryside around Glan y Glasnant Farm, where pitches are mown into long meadow grass and views look up towards the gorgeous green hills that cover this part of West Wales. You can usually expect complete peace at this farm, which has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its work in preserving and encouraging natural wildflowers and pollinators. There’s lots of chemical-free veg growing within the gardens, with whatever’s in season available for guests to buy – maybe some courgettes or pumpkins, or a bag of fresh salad to go with your picnic dinner? You’re welcome to take a walk around the farm to see what’s growing and going on – and there are plenty of other places to get out for a walk nearby too, including hikes in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park and strolls along the coast path (both 20 minutes’ drive) as well as wanders along local public footpaths (with your dog if you’d like to bring them…) Maintaining the wild feeling is important to the owners, so they’ve kept the campsite off grid and just set up some simple amenities for guests including a mains water tap, a washing-up area, a compost separator toilet and a solar shower cubicle. Parking is separate from the pitches in order to keep everything safe and peaceful. You’ll probably feel like you’re out in the middle of nowhere here – but in fact this site is easy to access, as it’s less than a mile from Cross Hands on the A48 (giving you an easy link to/from the western end of the M4).

What customers say

Enjoy peaceful, secluded stays surrounded by nature. Friendly owners, handy location near shops but feels remote. Basic, clean facilities. Some found pitching tricky and price a bit steep for amenities. Ideal for a quiet getaway.

Primitive grass and earth campervan campsite

Liked Friendly owners, peaceful site, small and quiet.

Disliked Price slightly high for wild camping, usually pay £10-£15max for only compost toilet & cold shower.
Would stay again if prices dropped.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked Absolutely beautiful. The setting makes you really feel like you are wild camping, lots of birds song, a babbling stream beside the pitch and a lovely little area for bonfires complete with logs to sit on, and if you fancy something a bit wilder still you have the option of wandering off into one of the fields surrounded by woodland and they will quad your camping gear up to you. The owners were lovely and really friendly. Basic but clean facilities. Liked how accessible and convenient the location was considering it felt like you were tucked away miles from anything.

Disliked Nothing!

Primitive grass tent campsite (wild)

Liked Wonderful friendly hosts and a beautiful camp site. Back to basics camping but facilities were clean and you can’t beat a cold shower to wake you up in the morning. Falling asleep to the sound of the babbling brook was bliss. Felt super safe camping on my own and will definitely be returning next year!

Primitive grass tent campsite (wild)

Liked Very friendly owners and a very peaceful site tucked away from the world. I chose to stay on the little field by the stream but other options are available.

Disliked Only a cold shower available but that seems normal for wild camping.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked This is as near to wild camping as you can get. Tent pitches on grass near the stream and the woods on the other side. Campervans on the next field in car parking area but still with the same gorgeous views. You are camping on a real farm with simple, clean fascilities. Everything you really need. Beautiful fresh veg is available grown on the farm and the firewood was excellent. Ideal base for exploring the Gower peninsula. Our first visit. We will be back.
