Horseshoe Camping: Campervan Pitch

General

  • Family-friendly Carmarthenshire site under a mile from Marros Sands
  • In the grounds of a riding centre; 15 minutes' drive to Folly Farm
  • Games area, cooking shelters, picnic tables and firepits on site

Pick your plot in the six-acre meadow at Horseshoe Camping… at this family-friendly site, you’ll be next door to a horse riding centre for peaceful countryside treks and within walking distance of several sandy beaches primed for rummaging through rockpools, kicking around a ball or paddles around the shore. Surrounded by a large strip of woodlands, there’s much exploring to be done around the site too (or coastal paths for when you want to tick off the nearby coves).

How to spend your downtime on site? Well, perhaps you’ll want to spy on horses in the neighbouring fields or let yourself unwind beside a firepit when the sun goes down. Each pitch comes with its own firepit, composting toilet and cooking shelter to help you come up with some new cooking concoctions.

When the food’s ready, there’s a picnic table to dig in. As for other facilities around the site, there's a climbing frame, a shared space with a fridge and freezer, phone charging points and a washing-up area.

If a meal out is calling your name, the nearest pub is a two-minute drive and there are plenty more restaurants and pubs beside the sea within five minutes’ drive, either beside the beach at Marros Sands or in the Pendine coastal town (a good place to source any food bits you need from the shops).

Please note

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

All onsite food and drink establishments are closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

Minimum spacing of 1 metres between pitches.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality flashlight with them as parts of the park are unlit.

LOVED everything about our stay at horseshoe camping. Super-Friendly hosts, a perfectly organized, small campsite with lots of space for each camping unit, yet the layout of the site allowed for lots of nice encounters and chats with other campers. The kids enjoyed the playground which is visible from every pitch and the honesty hut offered lots of useful items at great prices. The beaches in the vicinity speak for themselves... We couldn't have asked for more. Thanks again for our lovely bell tent experience!

Fantastic stay, the best glamping experience we've had with every detail thought of and really comfy beds. Loved everything- honesty hut, playground for the kids, huge pitch size, amazing showers, amazing location for beaches...even the compost loo was far superior to others we've had before. We'll be back!

Everything, huge pitches, each one with a big wooden shelter, picnic bench, various recycle bins, honesty hut, with compartmented fridges for each pitch, so you can travel light.

The weather for 2 days, and maybe the compostable toilets as the kids didn't like them. Too many spiders.

We loved every single aspect of this amazing site. Every little thing was thought of. The pitches are beautiful and huge, not just for the bell tents but for all the pitches. Each have their own individual sheltered areas with picnic tables, so no matter the weather you have somewhere dry to sit and eat! The campers kitchen had everything we could possibly need and is brilliantly set out for recycling, with individual bins for plastic, glass etc.
The composting loos are comfortable, clean and dry and hand sanitiser is provided too!
The showers are immaculate and the water was nice and hot. Fantastic at the end of a long day.
We also loved the honesty shop on site which stocks everything that you may have forgotten to bring and which also houses fridges for each pitch so that you can keep your food nice and fresh. Everything really has been thought of.
The bell tent itself was very clean and pretty. The bed was super comfy and I had the best sleep ever. There are solar and battery powered lights in and around the tent which is handy if you need to pop the short distance to the loo in the night!
The owners are really lovely and it was great to meet them both. We can’t wait to stay again in the future.

Local attractions

How to dally away your day? With trots from Marros Riding Centre (five minutes’ walk) or putting down roots on the sheltered Marros Sands (five minutes’ drive)? Sliding around the sand dunes or scouting out rock pools at Morfa Bychan (10 minutes) or watersports down Amroth Beach (10 minutes)?

The coast doesn’t end there… there’s the beachfront in Laugharne (15 minutes), dunes and a sandy beach at Pendine Sands (15 minutes) and all the life in Tenby (25 minutes), from the harbour and beaches to fishing activities.

While you’re in Wales, it’s only right that you see where one famed Welsh poet’s words were written. Perhaps you’ll find inspiration for your own at the Dylan Thomas Boathouse and Café (15 minutes). Or maybe you’d like to imagine you’re defending the mighty medieval Laugharne Castle (15 minutes).

There’s a different kind of escape into the heritage woodlands at the National Trust’s Colby Woodland Garden (10 minutes) and again at the Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (15 minutes) where the farm-themed rides will take the kids on a spin.
