  • Family-run caravan and camping park on the banks of the River Teifi
  • A 20-minute drive from the beaches of the Ceredigion coast
  • River walks and fishing from site; five mins' drive from pub and shops
Ah, Cardigan Bay… cliffs, dolphins, castles, rivers and green hills… Fill your boots with the best of the bay and the whole county of Carmarthenshire from a base on this spacious and friendly site. If you know your Welsh, or your Wales, you'll know that Afon Teifi Caravan and Camping is a riverside site, right on the banks of the Teifi; it's also about five minutes' drive from the lively market town of Newcastle Emlyn and around 20 minutes from the coast. It's a spacious site with a playing field along with a playground for kids of all ages, a games room kitted out with pool table, table tennis and a dartboard, and site-wide wifi. Barbecues and campfires are allowed and you can stock up supplies for your alfresco feasts in nearby Newcastle Emlyn, as well as treat yourself to local ales and hot fresh food in the pubs. The site has 15 acres of lovely riverside land for the exclusive use of its visitors (human and canine): take a walk along the Teifi or fish from the banks for trout, sea trout and salmon with daily, weekly and season tickets available to purchase from the reception desk. Maybe you'll catch something for supper…

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Very easy to find! Well maintained sight with clean/usable shower and toilet area. We got left to it on arrival (as I like it) 'Just find a spot and set up' happy days! Spoke to owner on the phone, I explained I booked online he was welcoming and just left me to it which I prefer.

Disliked Nothing at all I could say that would be a negative.

Liked We would definitely recommend this campsite! Or pitch was perfect next to the river, tree swing and field! Field was handy every morning with the dog.

Plenty people/kids fishing on the river bank which was lovely! Kids absolutely loved playing in the river!

The toilet facilities were clean and showers lovely and warm.

The staff around the campsite were fab, nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely come back.

Some lovely beaches within a 30min drive which were great!

Disliked Nothing really bad to comment on but I personally think the fire logs were a bit over priced for what you get. The logs seemed to be coated in something which seemed to burn quickly and not last very long!

We ended up traveling to B&M to get logs.

Liked Clean facilities and great location with lovely area to walk dogs and kids to play

Disliked Unfortunately stayed at a time that seemed to coincide with several others who were quite loud and disturbing, especially late at night past the publicised curfew on 2 of the 3 nights we stayed

Liked Stayed with grandchildren aged 7 to 15 all loved it. Pitched close to park loved how safe we all felt there, children able to come and go to park. They loved playing in the river. Site was super clean as were the shower/toilets block. Owners to best to keep to the peaceful time with campers being asked to keep noise to minimum after 10.30pm. Personally I like this one of the reasons we chose site. All staff were so welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to rebook for next year , hopefully for longer stay.

Disliked Absolutely nothing

Local attractions

Castles? Sorted. The ruined castle in Newcastle Emlyn is one of many built to defend this much-fought-over slice of green and pleasant land; Cilgerran, 15 minutes away, has ruinous traces of all the people who've sacked it and seized it, while 11th-century Cardigan Castle has been so well restored you'd think it was still in use. If you feel like going further back in time, spin a yarn or two at the National Wool Museum, five minutes' drive away, or hoof it over to Castell Henllys (30 minutes) to experience life in a working replica Iron Age village. The seals and dolphins have been visiting the waters of Cardigan Bay since long before the castles: spot them via a sea safari from New Quay, half an hour away. Alternatively take your binoculars when you hit the beach there, or at the similarly well-appointed sandy strips of Aberporth, Mwnt, Llangrannog and Poppit Sands, all between 20 minutes' and half an hour's drive. Antics off the sands include canoeing through the Teifi gorge from Cilgerran and walks along the 60-mile long Ceredigion Coast Path, as well as birdwatching opportunities aplenty heading inland along the wetlands of the Teifi estuary. For family days out involving wild beasts and high-octane active stuff, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and Heatherton World of Activities are both around an hour's drive away.
