  • Bar on site with occasional live music/food nights on weekends
Walks in west Wales and pet-friendly stays in a peaceful country setting… what a lovely location is Laugharne View Caravan Site, a strict no-smoking site. Bringing a dog along or not, this park on a working smallholding has spectacular views over the Taf estuary and Caldey Island, so it’s a first-rate place for a break soaking up the Carmarthenshire scenery. With paths to ply all around, it’s also a splendid spot for walks that should appeal to those on four legs or two – it’s possible to potter over to Llansteffan, a couple of miles away, directly from the park for visits to a wide sandy beach (make sure to check for seasonal restrictions if you're taking a dog) as well as a castle that dates back to the 12th century. From there, you might choose to extend your walk on the coast path. More interested in strolls that result in supper? A pub is within a five-minute walk, and the eateries of Carmarthen – the oldest town in Wales – are just over 20 minutes away by car. If you've got a bit more time in town, ride on the antique Gwili Steam Railway into the hinterlands of the country or stay in Carmarthen to browse the boutiques. If you’re firmly sticking to country pursuits, stay on site to peer at the chickens on the farm, take the dog for a run around the spacious grounds. You might also like to pick up a couple of drinks from the site's Hayday bar to complete the picture… The basic amenities at Laugharne View Caravan Site include a toilet block and a basic shower block. Please note that there is a non-smoking (and no vaping in family areas) policy in place at this site and that some parts of the site are adults-only.

Liked Lovely well run site, welcomed by Matt very friendly and helpful. View was fantastic as described, beautiful sunset. Weather was a mixed bag, had a Pink tribute on Saturday night, she was great, Matt & Sian managed the weather situation really well, opened their bar earlier for us ,also had a bit of fun karaoke😄 Maggie &Mo's pizza on site were delicious, also Matt made food on the Friday which was really good, couldn't do enough for you. Have a lovely big field for the pooches to run around, definitely recommend this family run site ,just a bit of a shame about the weather but still had a lovely weekend 😊loved Taylor's bar.

Powered grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Lovely views. Clean and quiet. A lovely bar on site open Fridays and Saturdays. Did not use the toilets or showers so cannot comment on them.

Disliked My only criticism is that you cannot dispose of general waste, only recycling.

Powered grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked The views, the peace, the space.
Was great to have water right next to the pitch.
Handy pub five minutes away in the village, lovely food and good portions.
Great beach at Llansteffan.
We did leave the evening before we had originally planned but that was only because of the bad weather forecast and I couldn't face taking down a wet tent!
We will definitely be back for a longer stay in the future.

Viewside powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (adults only)

Liked An Excellent site, small in capacity with plenty of space to walk and enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside, especially the vista of Laugharne on the opposite side of the estuary. Well kept and well kitted, this is a site that we'll be returning to in the future. Peaceful surroundings with local hostelries and close to some stunning locations, suitable for all ages.

Liked The view was amazing. Lovely area to visit and explore. The site is good for dogs, with walks across the fields. The owners are lovely and really friendly and helpful. There is a bar with what looks like good outdoor seating, but it was closed during our stay as it’s only open at weekends.

Local attractions

While Laugharne’s visible from the park, it’s a 25-minute drive away around the estuary to this pretty village famed for its castle and poet Dylan Thomas’ writing shed. For more of the area's history, National Trust attractions further away – like the Roman-era Dolaucothi Gold Mines (an hour’s drive) and the handsome house and park at Dinefwr (50 minutes) – should also feature on your to-do list. Also inland are many adventures, including the mountain biking trails of Brechfa Forest (55 minutes); swing back to the seaside and cycle more sedately along the Millennium Coastal Path if thrill-seeking on two wheels sounds a little bit too much for your tastes. Of course, you’re also never far from the coast in this part of Wales… Pembrey Country Park’s miles and miles of sandy beach are a 45-minute drive away, and the shorelines of the Gower Peninsula and Pembrokeshire are also less than an hour away.
