  • Small family-friendly rural site with views over the Towy Valley
  • A short walk to Carmel nature reserve; 40 minutes’ drive to the coast
  • Barbecues and firepits allowed; logs sold on site; farm shop nearby
Touch down at Caeffwrnfach, a small, friendly and quiet family-run pop-up site with views over the Towy Valley, the Brecon Beacons and beyond. In the ‘golden triangle of Carmarthenshire’, this site has 12 acres mixed between fields and woodlands with terrain steep in places and a small pond (parents with small children should be mindful of this) so that you may relax with the wildlife around. Access to the site isn’t too tricky, as the site is well linked to the M4, A40 and other major roads. Walking boots may come in handy here, as there are local walks around turlough and lime kilns, then Carmel Nature Reserve five minutes’ walk away. Afterwards, you may want to wind the activity down with a barbecue or firepit – they’re both permitted here and there are logs available to buy on site. Facilities on site include a single unisex toilet and washbasin, shower facilities (for a small fee, arranged in advance) and a water supply for drinking and dishwashing. You’ll need to bring a torch, as the site is lit purely by the stars and moon. Food on the brain? The market towns of Llandeilo (15 minutes’ drive) and Carmarthen (25 minutes) have plenty of restaurants, pubs, cafés and shops. Otherwise, there’s a local supermarket, butchers, bakery, farm shop and grill a short drive away.
