  • Ensuite luxury cabins with spectacular views on the Isle of Anglesey
  • Cemaes Bay 10 minutes’ drive; Zip World Penrhyn Quarry 45 minutes
  • Private hot tubs on a dark-skies site; honesty shop; alpacas on site
Friendly (and very cute) alpacas. Spectacular northern Anglesey views. An honesty shop. What’s not to love at Anglesey Holiday Accommodation, where luxurious wooden abodes are set in five-and-a-half acres of open Welsh countryside? Whether you’re there to while away time with your favourite book or indulge in adrenaline-inducing watersports, the campsite provides a peaceful base with smartly kitted-out accommodation. Facilities include ensuite bathrooms and well-equipped kitchenettes. There is no wifi, no TV and no arcades, just a peaceful time and plenty of salty sea air. Each unit has a private garden with seating and barbecues, plus – wait for it – eco-friendly, woodfired hot tubs for soaking away all your every-day stresses – particularly effective on clear nights when the dark skies are studded with stars. A starter pack of wood is supplied, which is enough for a ‘hot’ hot soak in your private tub. Further wood and kindling, as well as charcoal for barbecues, are available from the on-site honesty shop. If you’re after amusement arcades, fish and chip shops or pubs on site, this is not the place for you – you will, however, only be a short drive from great restaurants, pubs and chip shops, as well as beaches on the stunning coast. Amlwch (five minutes’ drive) is the go-to place for food shops and takeaways. Now about those alpacas – if you’d like to meet them, just have a wander through the wildflower meadow.

Local attractions

Anglesey has a startling number of beaches – the closest is at dog-friendly Cemaes Bay (10 minutes’ drive), which also has a pretty fishing harbour to potter around. Porth Swtan Beach (25 minutes) is good for rock pooling with the kids, and Porth Padrig Beach (15 minutes) is backed by a bizarre rock formation known as the ‘White Lady’. As well as showing off spectacular countryside, Anglesey is steeped in history. Unfinished Beaumaris Castle (half an hour) warrants a visit for the medieval symmetry of its towers and ramparts. There are spectacular views across the Menai Strait from the terraces at 18th-century Plas Newydd House and Gardens (also half an hour), or you can nip over the Menai Bridge to Bangor (35 minutes) to tour the ornate interiors and formal plantings at Penrhyn Castle and Gardens (40 minutes). Once back over on the mainland, it’s a doddle to explore the wild landscapes of Eryri National Park (formerly Snowdonia). It’s gateway to walking, cycling and climbing adventures from hubs like Betws-y-coed (an hour), or to speedy zipwire rides at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (45 minutes).

The Beach Hut 2 bedroom mobile home

Liked: Beautiful location on a beautiful island we will definitely be looking forward to visiting again. We stayed in the beach hut witch was perfect it gets a little cold in the morning and the little heaters are not very good but it’s a caravan at the end of the day so not a negative. The hot tub was perfect and already nice and hot when we arrived it was my partners birthday and Caroline and kev put a nice little surprise for her witch was a lovely surprise. The views are spectacular the neighbours are fluffy we would highly recommend staying here.
