  • Family-run site in a peaceful countryside location near Aberdaron
  • Well-maintained facilities and top spot for stargazing
  • Café serving breakfast, snacks and hot meals throughout the day
Set on the very tip of the National Trust-managed Llŷn Peninsula on the north Wales coast and overlooking Bardsey Island, Ty-newydd Farm is a fenced site a mile from the coast with heaps of space for kids as well as open fields aplenty in which to fly kites or get competitive at cricket. (Sinking down with a book, particularly while the kids are safely roaming free range, would be a highly decent option of choice too.) The family running this sheltered and long established farm and campsite are landscaping and developing it in an environmentally sympathetic manner to keep in manner with the scenic surrounds. It has ladies' and gents' toilets, two spacious showers, four shower units/rooms, a disabled-friendly shower and baby changing facilities. Two washing-up sinks with free unlimited hot and cold water are just outside the shower block; a water tap and waste water disposal point are halfway down the site along with a chemical toilet point. Ty-newydd Farm also has a well-stocked café serving breakfast, snacks and hot meals throughout the day; supplies can be sorted at Aberdaron village about a mile and a half away.

What customers say

This remote Llyn Peninsula campsite boasts stunning coastal views. Reviewers love the friendly staff, clean washrooms, and cafe. Pitches are level and spacious. Enjoy the peace and quiet, though note limited phone signal, shower fees, and a narrow access road.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked The view in reception in the cafe at the sea was great, not much view from campsite, the view I thought I booked was a campsite further down the road when I left an did some exploring, think this campsite used their picture as it was the exact same view.

Disliked Families… kids everywhere running round feral with no control. I requested a pitch on my own away from people when I got there I was placed in between families on like plot 14… so I requested one away from people as I wanted peace, I was put in pitch 1 on a field on my own; a family came to play cricket right next to me on pitch 2 when I had my dog who chases balls an barks; I had make them aware playing next to my camp wasn’t a good idea when there’s fields everywhere why do they have to play so close to an open fire an my tent… so I asked them to move. Had people walking their dogs an groups of children running past my tent on a field that had nothing for them, plenty of space elsewhere, empty fields and kids area yet they chose the field I was on, no awareness for others at all.

Supposed to stay two nights but I left before 9am next day; I was making a coffee an a woman walked past with a dog.. she did this a few times since I pitched up, no reason to be on that field no where for her to go, plenty of other places but she cracked her neck so much staring, watching me I thought she wanted to join me, got to a point of being rude - she kept walking past an the kids I couldn’t relax.

Spent £54 on 2 nights to waste 3 hrs drive an petrol, to just come home early 👌

Kids should stay with their families or in areas for kids not wandering off to other fields, anything could happen or accidents.

Local attractions

The lovely Llŷn Peninsula is a stellar spot for walking, birdwatching, rock fishing and wildlife watching as well as stargazing: Ty-newydd Farm is in a highly rural area with very little street lighting and no industry (that means very clean air too). The clear night skies around the farm and the peninsula have been lauded by astronomers as the clearest they've ever seen in the UK, so settle down here of an evening to spy planets, millions of stars and even the occasional flaring comet… Local walks are sorted directly from the site to Aberdaron via the Mynydd Mawr monument at the top of the headland – you could miss out the Mynydd Mawr part of the walk if you're doing it in the evening to take in the also stellar sunset sinking down over Bardsey Island. If you're off to Aberdaron, have a hunt for St Mary’s Well or Ffynnon Fair, the freshwater spring at the foot of the Mynydd Mawr cliffs. It's covered by sea water twice a day, but you wouldn't know that by tasting it: bring and fill a bottle or two to take back home. And as you're this close to the north Wales coast, days out at the local beaches should also be hunted down: have them at Aberdaron, Abersoch, Porth Neigwl, Pwllheli…
