  • Quiet family-friendly site with spectacular Irish Sea views in Gwynedd
  • Access to Llŷn Coastal Path; Eryri National Park 45 minutes’ drive
  • Private pebble beach walkable from the pitches; pubs 10 minutes’ drive
There’s rural and there’s really rural. Pant Gwyn Farm comes under the latter category. Set on the spectacular Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales, this caravan and camping site on a working cattle and sheep farm has far-reaching mountain and Irish Sea views from its clifftop pitches – on a clear day you can glimpse Ireland on the horizon – and from the headland, you can scramble down to a private shingle beach. Miles of walks lead off in all directions, so bring canine chums to share your Gwynedd adventure, and perhaps hike sections of the Llŷn Coastal Path direct from the site. This remote spot is so peaceful that all you can hear is cows, sheep and birdsong, and on clear evenings you can expect spectacular sunsets over the sea. The nearest shop is 15 minutes’ drive away, so it’s best to come well prepared with provisions to cover your stay. There are a couple of pubs within about 10 minutes’ drive of the site, so you’ll certainly never go hungry. Simple campsite facilities include a shower block and modern loos, as well as two washing machines, a fridge and washing-up facilities.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Lots of space in an incredible setting. The view was gorgeous and there is a walk that starts at the bottom of the field that goes along the coast and down to a sandy beach about 15 minutes walk away.
I always went to shower early and didn't have to queue.
We have screw in pegs and forgot the drill bit needed to secure them. The farmer kindly offered us his drill, which really saved our skin!
It had a really great vibe, and we'll definitely be back.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Wow what a truly beautiful place. The site is clean perfect for families big open space for the kids to play. Access to the beach (it’s a bit rocky there definitely recommend water shoes) It’s also on a coastal path if you go left there’s a stunning sandy beach (no dogs allowed) and right you have seal spotting this was amazing. Theses are both around a 15 minute walk.

Disliked Walk to the toilets is a bit far but we take a portable loo incase you need to go in the night

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Brilliant views, great price £40 for two nights. Toilets clean, communal fridge and freezer were life savers. Follow the coastal path at the bottom of the field and it will take you to some small private beaches hidden in a cove. Owner is friendly.

Disliked Have to pay for showers and washing machines (£1 for 5mins)

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Site is great. Owner was so nice and helpful. We were located on the far field, right on the coast, couldn't have got a better spot.
Having glorious weather also made our weekend. The sunset was outstanding.
Looking out to the sea, if you walked left 15 mins along the coast, you pass a few bays and then reach a lovely beach, 20 mins right you'll come across a seal colony.

Local attractions

When it comes to beaches, you can take your pick of a fair few. Sandy Porth Towyn Tudweiliog (five minutes’ drive) is something of a local secret, while Porth Ysgaden (10 minutes) is popular for paddleboarding and snorkelling around its craggy bay. You can take the kids rock pooling on the expanse at Traeth Penllech (15 minutes), or swim in shallow waters off the sweeping crescent at Porth Neigwl (20 minutes). All the climbing, hiking and cycling opportunities in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park are but 45 minutes’ drive away (the summit of Sundown can be spotted from the camping fields), but if the kids get fractious on car journeys, there are also family-friendly walks and bike rides to be had closer to home base in untamed Llŷn National Landscape (15 minutes). Take a deep dive into the history of North Wales with a visit to one (or indeed, all) of the landmark castles at Caernarfon, Beaumaris, Penrhyn, Cricceith or Harlech (all within an hour’s dive). After all that culture, reward the kids with an afternoon splashing around on the inflatable climbing course at Glasfryn Parc (25 minutes).
