  • Luxurious glamping site near Gwynedd in Snowdonia National Park
  • A 40-minute drive to Zip World Llechwedd and Portmeirion
  • Well-equipped units with decking; shops and pubs five minutes’ drive
Set in mountainous Gwynedd countryside in the middle of Snowdonia National Park, Torrent Walk Glamping is surrounded by farmland where friendly ponies and sheep graze. It’s a handy base for anyone wanting to explore all the park has to offer and come back to something really rather luxurious at the end of a day in the fresh air.

All the glamping units on site are dog-friendly (either two small or one large dog per unit), and for your ease, all bedding is provided. Kitchens come with all the cooking essentials (microwave, toaster, fridge, kettle and so on) and outside there is private decking with firepits and barbecue equipment on hand – just the spot for stargazing around a warming campfire on clear nights.

If you’d rather have a rest from cooking (whose holiday is it, after all?), historic Dolgellau (five minutes’ drive) has lots of shops, cafés, pubs and bistros where you can eat in, pick up takeaways and have a crafty pint or two into the bargain. Need something to get you going in the morning? There’s a coffee chain within five minutes’ walking distance too.

Communal washing machines take care of keeping everyone looking their best, and charging facilities mean that teens won’t lose contact with their mates back home.

2 camping pod (four person)

Liked: Loved our camping pod. Well kitted out, clean, comfortable and cosy. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice sized friendly site in a good location for exploring Snowdonia and the nearby coast. Would recommend!

Disliked: Nothing really, all good! Maybe an on-site takeaway - like a pizza van, might be a nice addition. Or a designated play area or part of a field for kids.

Camping pod (three person)

Liked: Highly recommend...The site was lovely and clean, and the facilities were cleaned regularly. I stayed in one of the glamping pods, with my two little dogs, everything that I needed was provided even a bbc/fire pit, and the free WiFi was an added bonus. We spent a couple of days on Harlech Beach which is well worth the 45 minutes drive, we also did the Torrent Walk and Precipice walk, the views are amazing and the dogs loved being in the water, especially as it was 28 degrees.

Disliked: Could do with a fly/mosquito net over the rear window, it was very hot whilst I was there so needed the window open, which was next to a bush and ended being biten, even though I'd sprayed myself with mosquito repellent.

2 camping pod (four person)

Liked: Was really clean and comfortable during the day. Had the facilities for very close and were spacious. The evening were nice and quiet so weren’t disturbed too much. The scenery was gorgeous and the spaces between each pitch was good.

Disliked: Needed a fan to cool the pod at night as we had a dog we couldn’t leave the main doors open to get a breeze. One knife was broken on the magnet strip.

Local attractions

Many local walks, including the campsite’s namesake Torrent Walk – a scenic, short and circular stroll alongside the River Clywedog – start from near the pitches. Walk or cycle the Mawddach Trail along a former railway line between Dolgellau (five minutes’ drive) and Barmouth (20 minutes), or choose a more challenging route like the Pony Path from Ty Nant (half an hour) for Cader Idris mountain views.

Anyone seeking more adventurous pursuits won’t be disappointed: zoom through former slate mines or have a go on the underground Bounce Below nets at Zip World Llechwedd (40 minutes), or get out on the challenging mountain bike trails at Coed y Brenin (25 minutes) and Dyfi Bike Park (20 minutes), or go boating on Llyn Tegid at Bala (half an hour).

After a gentler sort of day out? Book candle-making workshops or go gin tasting at Corris Craft Centre (15 minutes) or spend a day wandering around Portmeirion (40 minutes), built to resemble an Italian village and overlooking the coast.
