Family-run The Paddocks Caravan and Camping is a small and ultra-organised site with well-maintained, flat and spacious pitches in north Wales. It’s less than five minutes’ drive to the beach at Criccieth, and around half an hour to the imposing castles at Harlech and Caernarfon, making this a cracking adults-only base from which to explore the Llŷn Peninsula. It's a 10-minute trip by car to the wide, south-facing sands at Pwllheli, a former haunt of smugglers and pirates. You'll find it quite a bit calmer these days, especially if you follow the fab Llŷn Peninsula Coastal Path round the peninsula for views and wildlife and splendid sea air. Sandcastles, paddling and rockpool exploration are all there for the taking. If you’d rather ditch the car, a bus stop is five minutes’ walk away, or you can explore on two legs – perhaps a good place to start is the local village of Llanystumdwy (five minutes’ walk), as it’s the burial place of former Prime Minister David Lloyd George. You can see his grave and visit a small museum, and afterwards stroll down the banks of the scenic River Dwyfor or pop into the pub for a pint. Gleaming facilities on site include a well-lit shower block with two private bathrooms (each containing a large shower, wash-hand basin and toilet), plus a separate adjacent shower with a dressing room and a hair dryer. Nearby is a covered communal area with a table and seating, plus two washing-up sinks, a fridge-freezer, a separate drinks fridge, a microwave, toaster and a kettle. There's also a phone-charging point. Firepits and barbecues are allowed, but they must be raised off the ground and set up on one of the concrete slabs provided. Small chimineas and barbecues are available for nightly hire on site, and you can buy logs and charcoal here too. Please note that parties are not permitted – this is a quiet site.

  • Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.
  • Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.
  • Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
  • A cable measuring at least 20 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.
  • Units longer than 9.1 metres are not allowed.
  • Minimum spacing of 3 metres between pitches.
  • If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality flashlight with them as parts of the park are unlit.
  • Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
  • If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.
  • The charging of electric vehicles is not permitted on site.
  • The maximum gazebo size allowed is 3m x 3m.

Liked: Well maintained site, showers and toilets were super clean, whole of site and amenities well thought out and lots of little extras like ice machine, fresh eggs and milk available. Hosts were very helpful gave lots of advice and what could be done and how to get there. Access to local bus and trains was easy and value for money. Village just down the hill was lovely and Riverside walk was a pleasure.

Disliked: Main road was a little noisy at times and there was nowhere to drop grey water but we managed with a bucket.

Liked: We liked the facilities which were always spotlessly clean and generous with everything you could need if you didn't have your own- soap, washing up liquid, sponges, cloths, tea, coffee, microwave,toaster, fridge and freezer, ice packs and bags to label to put food in etc.
Friendly owners, generous, well maintained, level pitches. Can't think of anything Leigh and Juliette could do to improve anything.

Disliked: There was some traffic noise but obviously this is beyond the owners control and the site itself is small, with lots of space and was quiet.

Liked: Lovely facilities and helpful owners. Eggs and other supplies available on site, with honesty box.
A walk along the coastal path takes you to Criccieth.
Nice community pub in the village, it doesn't do food though. There's also a very small cabin that sells some drinks and dry goods.

Liked: Fantastic facilities and great location for Criccieth. We walked there and got the bus back.

Disliked: Traffic noise was really intrusive started really early in the morning and made it impossible to sleep. It may be better at the weekend as we think it was shift workers from the local laundry.
