  • Small family-run site on the northeastern edge of Eryri/Snowdonia
  • Two Snowdon paths five minutes' drive; Caernarfon Castle 15 minutes
  • Peaceful location with easy access from the A4085
Tucked away between the western edge of Eryri/Snowdonia National Park and the coastal town of Caernarfon, Bach Ventures Camping is a small and friendly family-run site that makes an excellent base for all the attractions and activities this part of the world has to offer. Set back from the main road and accessed via a 200-metre drive, this a peaceful place that welcomes all sorts of guests, including walkers, cyclists, families and visitors with dogs (a doggy bin is provided and you'll need to keep them under control on a lead while on site). Facilities are simple but well kept, with toilets, showers (no extra charge) and hot-water washing amenities all provided in separate blocks behind the main house. Barbecues are permitted as long as they are kept off the grass, and a communal firepit is provided for everyone to use. The local shop and garage sells firewood. Single-night stopovers are very welcome here, but this is an area that's jam-packed with things to do so it also lends itself well to longer stays. Two of the six paths up Yr Wyddfa/Mount Snowdon are five minutes' drive away, and there are lots of other outdoor activities around, including coasteering, climbing, kayaking, mountain biking and scuba diving. Several heritage attractions – including Caernarfon Castle and the National Slate Museum are within easy reach, and it's a 20-minute drive to the bridge over to Anglesey.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Good location and good pitches. Friendly host. Clean toilets and facilities.

Disliked Communal fire pit and BBQ. Terrible smell from what seemed like a sewage drain right next to pitch.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Katerina
Thank you for your review.

We have a communal firepit due to people over the years burning the grass.

We do allow own BBQs as long as off the grass.

Karen

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Great location for accessing either Snowdon ranger or Llanberis path. Host was very friendly & helpful. No electric pitches but toilet, shower & washing up facilities were brilliant with a better hot water system than at home! Has everything you could need, nice quiet welcoming atmosphere.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Perfect back to basics flat campsite. Ideally located giving great access to all of North Wales and Snowdonia National Park.
After reading previous reviews the facilities were exactly as expected. Whilst they are basic they’re kept clean and tidy managed by the very friendly and welcoming host.

Disliked Nothing, ideal for my needs whilst touring around Wales on my motorcycle.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The campsite was great and spacious and had enough facilities to accommodate everyone. The lady hosting us was so incredibly kind and even helped us when we had trouble with our tents. We came to have a reunion in our friendship group and this was the perfect setting for us.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Good facilities lovely location with beautiful scenery very close to Snowdon. Karen is lovely nice small campsite so you can get to know people.

Disliked Thought we could all have our own fires but theres a communal pit which was still good to get to know other campers.

From the manager: Thanks Harvey for your review.
Glad you enjoyed your stay.
We provided the communal fire pit as people were burning the grass with individual fires.
Glad you see the benefit of it though, as it's nice to get to know people and you get a good view from it too.😊
