Beddgelert campsite is the perfect location if you're looking for a tranquil, relaxing camping experience. Set within a conifer and broadleaf forest, Beddgelert campsite offers you a place to get away from it all, take in the local surroundings and get closer to nature. Set within Snowdonia National Park and just a few minutes from the pretty Welsh village that shares its name, Beddgelert is an idyllic riverside location, surrounded by snow-capped mountains in an area of Wales that is steeped in legend. In the heart of our Beddgelert campsite location is our Forest Retreat. Within it you'll find our reception where you'll check in, you'll also find a great selection of local produce, gifts and basic holiday essentials. We offer a great range of takeaway hot drinks, cakes and sweets! Drop by and say hello to our friendly location team who will help you make the most of your stay, providing insight of the local area, plus tips for the best places to visit nearby. They can also help to book your activities. We are a dog friendly location and allow up to 4 dogs to be booked for an additional charge per pitch. Drop by reception to pick up a complimentary tasty treat before setting off for a walk through some of Snowdonia's great trails and walking routes. If those paws get a bit muddy, then drop by the camping facilities block and use our outdoor dog wash station with fresh warm water. Dogs are not permitted in our camping facilities block or The Bakehouse (guide dogs are permitted), we have placed dog lead tie points outside for your convenience. Catch the train at our train station for a scenic journey on the Welsh Highland Railway, for a small charge dogs can ride too. Snowdonia National Park is abundant with wildlife. It's not uncommon to find squirrels, sheep, goats and rabbits wandering around (including on our location!), please ensure your dogs remain on leads when walking around location and take additional caution when walking off-location.

Route directions

Follow the M56 (W) and join the M53 (S). At the end of the motorway, join the A55 and follow this road until it joins the A487 towards Caernarfon. Follow the A487 until it meets the A4085. The campsite is located on your right a few miles along the A4085. If you arrive at Beddgelert village, you have missed the turning. From Birmingham and the South Follow the M6 and join the M54. At the end of the motorway, take the A5 to Shrewsbury. Follow the A5 around Shrewsbury and join the A458 heading West. At the end of the A458 join the A470 (N&W) and then the A487 to Porthmadog. Join the A498. Follow the A498 and turn right on to the A4085 (North, towards Caernarfon). The site is on your left a few miles along the A4085. Please take care. The roads around Beddgelert are narrow but are passable with caravans if taken with caution. It’s worth the journey!

Head to Coed y Brenin Forest Park and go walking or mountain biking, while you’re there stop off at one of the scenic picnic spots. Why not enjoy the many outdoor activities at Padarn Country Park, near Llanberis? Or for paintball and Segway adventures in the forest, make your way to Dragon Raiders Activity Park at Criccieth. Beddgelert Snowdonia is situated perfectly for a walking holiday. The forests, rivers and mountains of Snowdonia National Park are on your cabin doorstep and will delight you. A gentle riverside walk brings you to Gelert’s Grave, a perfect route for a gentle stroll, for the more energetic, work your way up to the summit of Snowdon. Take in the stunning landscapes that surround you at Beddgelert campsite with a route from your cabin up to Llyn Llywelyn, the beautiful Glaslyn Pass or the Lon Gwyrfai path. With something for cyclists of every age and ability, Snowdonia has gentle trails or more challenging climbs through the mountains. Whatever route you choose, you’ll take in breath-taking views. Take the way-marked Lon Gwyrfai Path or head to the coast and follow the Sustrans route from Bangor to Barmouth. If you’re a mountain bike enthusiast, Antur Styniog has spectacular trails up in the mountains at Blaenau Ffestiniog. Head underground on the rainy days in Wales. The Llechwedd Slate Caverns offer a glimpse into the history of Snowdonia’s slate mining past. Electric Mountain is a more up to date experience, enjoy learning about the hydro-electricity scheme in Europe’s largest man-made cavern. At Zip World Slate Caverns, there’s an abundance of fun adventures to be had. With Bounce Below, a subterranean playground and the Zip World Caverns, an underground assault course - it’s an adventure you won’t forget! Back above ground, take the steam train to Caernarfon and visit the castle or have a coffee as the kids let off some steam at The Fun Centre. North Wales is home to some great family attractions! From Children's Farm Park near Harlech for the children to the adrenaline-fuelled activities at the three nearby Zip World centres for the more mature. A short distance away you’ll find the Glaslyn Wildlife Visitor Centre and is a must visit to see the ospreys. Head to the summit of Snowdon on the famous Snowdon Mountain Railway, an experience that the whole family will remember forever or enjoy the fun at Greenwood Forest Park, voted Best Family Attraction in North Wales!

    Our pitches are available from 12pm on the day of arrival. Setting up your pitch in the dark can be complicated even for seasoned campers so we ask that you arrive and check-in before 8pm or nightfall, whichever is earlier. We will be unable to check you in after this time so please leave plenty of time to get to us.
