  • Dog-friendly wild camping site with views over the Vyrnwy Valley
  • Half an hour’s drive from Lake Vyrnwy; direct access to Glyndwr’s Way
  • Private river stretch for fishing and swimming; shop and pub nearby
Wake up on a high on the hill at Bryn Dyffryn, a peaceful dog-friendly wild camping site with views over the Vyrnwy Valley and the site's working dairy farm. A back-to-nature sort of place with birds flying over the hill and the activity of the green valley down below, here, you can watch the cows graze or career off onto the 135-mile Glyndwr’s Way footpath running through the hill on site for a route through Welsh moorlands and forests. With Lake Vyrnwy half an hour’s drive away for all sorts of activities including horse riding, mountain biking, boating and kayaking, this is a trusty base for outdoor activities or a visit to the ancient Dyffryn Hill Celtic Fort (under five minutes’ walk away). The River Vyrnwy runs through the farm (a 20-minute walk from the pitches), where guests have private access to a one-mile stretch for fishing and a stone beach for wild swimming, if that’s your kind of thing. If you’ve worked up an appetite, there are some basic cooking facilities on site. Grab food from the shop in Meiford Village (10 minutes’ walk) or head into Welshpool (15 minutes) for bigger supermarkets. Good food is never too far away, as there’s a village pub in Meiford too, with a cosy inglenook fireplace, gastro food and local beers.
