Canpervan and bell tent on electric pitches

  • Small, simple Ceredigion site for coast and countryside days out
  • Cardigan five minutes’ drive; 15 minutes to Mwnt or Poppit Sands
  • Dog-friendly site; barbecues and campfires permitted
Excellent views and an eco-friendly approach – it’s a double win for guests at Ceredigion’s Cilbronnau Farm, a couple of miles from Cardigan, in the village of Llangoedmor. This place is all about taking it easy, with calming green views and wildlife to spot by day and dark skies full of twinkling stars by night. It’s a small and simple site, so there’s little to distract you from the important business of winding down and appreciating the rather gorgeous natural surroundings. There are lots of lovely walks and hikes in the area, but Cilbronnau Farm is also handily placed for both country and coast exploration, so it’s easy to get out and cast your sightseeing net a little wider. It’s only a short drive to a whole host of fabulous beaches (Poppit Sands, Mwnt and Tresaith are all within a 15-minute drive), and Cardigan (five minutes’ drive) has some great attractions, as well as being a handy place to find shops, pubs and places to eat. Back on site, the facilities stretch to an outdoor washing-up area and a toilet/shower unit – keeping things simple to maintain a minimal impact on the local environment. Barbecues and campfires are permitted for your outdoor evenings, and dogs are welcome to join you on your Welsh break, too.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great relaxing week away. The toilets & showers were always clean and well stocked. Sophie & Tom were always friendly & helpful, answered any questions & gave great recommendations of places to visit. We really enjoyed hearing all the grasshoppers & watching all the butterflies and dragonflies. It was great having hot water to do the dishes and the goats were a great bonus too (even if they did take a fancy to our clothes!) Recycling was easy to sort and dispose of, well labelled.

Disliked The back seat passengers disliked the driveway as it was very bumpy, but the driver & front seat occupants were fine!

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked A beautiful, peaceful site with so much privacy from the other pitches. Individual firepits for each pitch (though we didn't use them they were excellent quality). Showers and loos all in one individual space and there were three of these. We only had to wait once.

Disliked Hopefully the owners will add more hooks in the showers. 😊

Local attractions

Explore the well-kept gardens of 12th-century Cardigan Castle (five minutes’ drive), checking out the Whale Bone Arch, the Sword of Peace sculpture and the splendid oak Eisteddfod Chair, decorated with a climbing ivy, birds of prey and a harp. Next to the Castle Street Bridge is the Teifi Otter statue, standing on top of a boulder. Stretching at the mouth of the Teifi, Poppit Sands (15 minutes) is popular for walks and kite flying, as well as rockpooling. Or head to Mwnt beach (also 15 minutes), accessed via a long stairway carved out of the cliff and overlooked by a small medieval chapel. This sheltered beach is a top spot for spotting dolphins. The National Botanic Garden of Wales (an hour) includes a vast glasshouse designed by architect Normal Foster. Under its dome is a collection of endangered plants from all over the world. If you’d rather be out in the fresh air, the garden also has its own nature reserve (Waun Las), with wildflowers, orchids and fungi.
