Touring pitches

  • Peaceful pitches a mile from Aberystwyth town centre
  • A 10-minute drive from Borth beach; 20 minutes from Devil's Bridge
  • Easy access from main roads; dogs welcome
Make the most of Ceredigion’s countryside and set your compass to Bryncarnedd Caravan Park, a mile outside of Aberystwyth town centre. It is indeed a splendid spot here on what was once a busy dairy farm, and handily you’ll be well set for getting into town for shops, restaurants and attractions when you want them. These days, this place has been transformed into a peaceful caravan park with holiday lets in the surrounding old farm buildings. Dogs are welcome to join you on the pitches here – there are plenty of places to take them (or yourselves) for a walk on local pathways. Easy access to the local main roads (A44 and A487) means that it’s straightforward to get out and about for the area’s many activities and attractions, be they beaches, birdwatching, bike riding or exploring the area around Devils Bridge (waterfalls and cool bridges included). Back on site, though, there are well-maintained facilities, including a play area, washing-up area, chemical disposal point and modern bathroom block with toilets and showers to rinse off after a full-on day of adventuring. There's no reception on site, and there's a simple self-check-in system so that you can get straight to the important things: relaxing. There is, however, a manager on site 24 hours per day, plus a modern camera system.

What customers say

Mostly peaceful campsite near Aberystwyth, with level, clean pitches and hot showers. Easy self-check-in. Facilities are basic; some guests noted occasional cleanliness/maintenance issues and a steep walk back from town.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Clean ,nice. cubicle showers with a seating area . Clearly marked pitches although there was (no reception to check in )

Disliked We had someone cutting grass on a ride on noisy machine at 8:00am in the morning and then all day for 2 days, I recognise maintenance is required but not at 8:00am, coupled with no one monitoring noise levels from seasonal pitch holders who were swearing and shouting until late at night not a very relaxing stay

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Accessibility to Aberystwyth town. £6 in a cab or a 40 min walk. Dishwashing area good.

Disliked For £30 a night I'd like the grass to be mown. Id like the toilets & showers to be cleaned with more than a dirty mop & sponge. Actual SOAP would help it smell a lot better. I was lucky to be there in low season so 2 loos was ok but don't think that's gonna work in high season. It's time the owner disposed of the old rotting caravans & their carcasses & cleaned this site up! It has potential but needs work to get it there.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Nothing at all.

Disliked The site is neglected. It is in vital need of tidying up.
The toilets smelt atrocious of urine. The showers were poorly maintained and also dirty. Overall the toilets and showers appeared very unhygienic.
Mouldy dirty seasonal vans are an eyesore.
We booked 2 nights but only stayed the one night because of the state of the site.
The site is not cheap it was £35 per night. It wasnt worth £5.
Anyone looking to book this site also read UK campsite reviews. I wished I had. I would be £70 better off

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Quiet, close to Aberystwyth centre.

Disliked Didn’t see any staff at all, very much a self service set up.
Some of the toilet and shower facilities are grim.
There are few tourers clearly kept there all year but look like they haven’t been used for years giving it the look of a caravan graveyard. Pitches looked in need of some TLC as overgrown with weeds in places.

Local attractions

Once you’ve got your bearings, you’ll want to get clued up on exactly what’s close by. Aberystwyth (five minutes’ drive) has a castle, cliff railway and the nostalgic Vale of Rheidol Railway, while Borth beach (10 minutes) will sort out swimming, surfing, fishing, sailing and windsurfing fans. For walks surrounded by pleasant coastal scenery, the Ynyslas beach and nature reserve (15 minutes) is a sure bet for that sort of stuff, while the Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre (15 minutes) has plenty of walks or bike trails in a forest setting instead. There's also red kite feeding activities to mix things up a little there. Put your smarts to the test… you’ll find a few things to wrap your head around at the Centre for Alternative Technology (35 minutes). Meanwhile, Corris Craft Centre (35 minutes) will be a test of your artistic skills instead, while the Silver Mountain Experience (20 minutes) has escape rooms and tours around a Victorian mine. And what about King Arthur's Labyrinth (40 minutes), where re-enactments and boat tours bring the legends to life? Handily, with your guide, you shouldn't get too lost inside the Snowdonia mountains…
