  • Family tourer site five minutes’ drive from the M8 in Renfrewshire
  • Half an hours’ drive to central Glasgow; 25 minutes to Loch Lomond
  • Award-winning restaurant and cocktail bar; horse riding
With horse riding available and an award-winning restaurant and bar to boot, you’ll never be short of something to do at family-friendly The Paddocks Touring Park in Renfrewshire. Easily accessed from the main M8 motorway, this is a handy overnighting spot on the way to the scenic west coast of Scotland, or if you’re keen to spend a few days exploring the local area, central Glasgow is half an hour’s drive. Hardstanding pitches have stunning views over hilly countryside around Bishopton, and each comes with a 32-amp electric hook-up, a water supply and waste drainage. If you are self-catering, you’ll find most of what you need at the small supermarket in Bishopton (five minutes’ drive). Alternatively, Palomino’s bar (stay over on a Saturday night for live music) and restaurant is open from breakfast to dinner, and there’s a food and drinks delivery service available between 12pm and 8pm. Most flowers, vegetables and herbs used in the restaurant are grown on site in polytunnels, and honey is produced in the beehives – guests are welcome to purchase some to take home. The practicalities: convenient facilities include modern showers, a laundry (additional cost), washing-up sinks and electric vehicle charging points. With 24-hour security, you’ll know that all your stuff is safe and sound on site. Two dogs are welcome per pitch, but please ensure they remain on the lead at the pitches. For horse riding, book in advance to avoid disappointment.

What customers say

Exceptionally clean, well-kept site with roomy pitches, many with water/electric. Visitors rave about modern, high-quality washrooms, often with complimentary toiletries and music. Great on-site restaurant. Peaceful, near Glasgow. Minor notes on occasional noise, Wi-Fi, shower privacy, but overwhelmingly positive with many wanting to return.

Liked Clean and very level site, if you like horses it is a must.

Pitches were well spaced with nice picnicking benches in between.

Nice (albeit pricey) restaurant on site

There was a wedding reception on in the main venue, with many guests staying in the lodges closest to the pitch we had - but credit to the site it was not noisy despite this.

Didn’t explore local area much - horse
Riding on site which was good value and kid loved it

Any staff we encountered were good

Disliked The shower / toilet block for the motorhome site was small - and not a fault of the site but the clientele - the gents in particular were grim in the morning. I think the stables would’ve been cleaner a

Liked Large roomy pitches, individual water taps, excellent outlook, beautiful manicured grounds and a lovely restaurant on site. Very friendly ground staff and restaurant staff, clean modern toilets. Close location to Paisley and Glasgow, great site.

Disliked Over loud music in toilets and showers - great if you are 14 years old and love boy bands, not really suitable for the median age group which is around 50-60 years old… A simple fix, choose an age appropriate radio station and lower the volume slightly. ALL shower gel and conditioners empty in all male showers, another easy fix.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked The drive down to the site is very pleasant with horses and riders passing by.

Nice spacious pitches, EHU and water, each with a picnic table adorned with flowers.

Showers/washrooms were luxurious looking.

Good waste emptying facilities.

Very helpful friendly staff who assisted with a mix up over pitch numbers.

Dined in the restaurant. Food was delicious, cocktails were excellent, service was great.

Disliked Cleaning of cubicles could have been better and the shower kept going cold.

Disliked Facilities are top quality, however there's not enough of them to service the number of people on site. Queue for showers.

Local attractions

Known for its cool shopping and lively nightlife, Glasgow (half an hour’s drive) also tempts with its myriad art galleries, museums and formal gardens. The Burrell Collection (25 minutes) stands out with an impressive hoard of decorative arts and masterpiece paintings, and if you’re travelling with kids, there’s a huge display of vintage cars and interactive exhibits in the Riverside Museum (20 minutes). If cities are not your thing, turn north to Loch Lomond (25 minutes), where you can get out in the fresh air on boat cruises (20 minutes), play golf on loch-side courses or walk and cycle for miles in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park (both half an hour). If you’d care to venture a little further afield, Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park (55 minutes) makes a fun day out for all the family with giraffes, endangered Amur tigers and a life-size dinosaur trail. Lofty Stirling Castle (50 minutes) is open for guided tours of its historic chapel, centuries-old kitchens and regimental museum.
