  • Peaceful park next to the River Forth, two miles from Aberfoyle
  • In Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a half-hour drive from Stirling
  • Well-kept pitches with direct access to Loch Ard Forest; dogs welcome
If you’re setting off for Stirlingshire with your eye on finding lots of alfresco activities, you should certainly consider Cobleland Campsite as a base. A couple of miles south of Aberfoyle, this peaceful park is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. That setting means miles and miles of walking and cycling trails stretch out through the surrounding area, with fishing and golf close by too – and watersports, treetop trails, cliff jumping and the like for more intrepid guests. And in fact you don't have to travel far to get started on soaking up the spectacular scenery – you can simply stick around on site, where oak trees tower over the pitches and there’s a backdrop of pretty forest views with the River Forth running along one side of the site. Just beyond the river are paths taking you straight out into Loch Ard Forest for a woodland wander or a dog walk if you’ve brought your pet with you. The pitches at Cobleland are well tended and spacious, with access to all the essential amenities including a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal as well as bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled facilities. Aberfoyle (five minutes’ drive) has a small supermarket for supplies, plus several places to eat and drink.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Everything

Disliked When you book, the pitch you are allocated, isn’t the one you get once you get to the site HOWEVER extremely accommodating and managed to place us next to our friends that have our kids friends as we were all staying together despite the initial confusion/mismatch.

Meadow powered grass and gravel campsite

Liked Beautiful surroundings plenty of long walks near the river ideal for fishing. toilets & shower blocks were clean. Will definitely be staying here again when kids are back at school.

Disliked Only thing we disliked was the pitch seamed very cramped. But it was very busy due to peak season. No boundaries as people walking across our pitch, kids playing football right next to our motorhome.

Powered cement/asphalt campsite (woodland)

Liked The staff were so friendly and helpful. The site was excellent. Offering the choice of meadow or woodland pitches( which we stayed in) . Facilities were clean and showers were excellent water lovely and hot. Camp shop sold the essentials at reasonable prices. Best of all this site is very dog friendly. Having 3 pooches this was a godsend. Will stay here again.

Disliked Midges but that’s not the campsites fault and we used a thermoses repellant which worked well
