Loch katrine

  • Hardstanding motorhome pitches in the Trossachs Pier car park
  • On the banks of Loch Katrine with direct access to the Trossachs Trail
  • Next to a café and departure point for loch cruises
Somewhere scenic to park your motorhome in Stirlingshire? Take a look at the touring pitches at Trossachs Pier – this location is in a fabulous spot right on the banks of Loch Katrine and in one of the UK’s largest National Nature Reserves, the Great Trossachs Forest. Technically speaking, these pitches are in the pier’s car park, but there’s rather more to it than that, as you’ll have access to toilets and showers (for an extra charge), wifi and a café serving up breakfasts, lunches, hot drinks and the like. There’s also bike hire in the car park, and it’s the departure point for various passenger cruises. Boat trips run regularly through the day but the top pick for many visitors is a ride on the Sir Walter Scott steamship, which has sailed on the loch since 1900. Once you’ve explored the loch thoroughly, don’t plan to move on too quickly – this site is located on the 40-mile Trossachs Trail for walks and bike rides, and there’s plenty more to see and do around the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, whether you’re planning to bag a few Munros, go fishing, play golf or explore some of the area’s history.

What customers say

Beautiful Loch Katrine setting, lauded for views and calm, especially off-peak. Friendly staff, clean washrooms, good café. Some pitches slope, but hard standings are practical, well-priced with optional EHU. Boat trips, walks popular. Note: limited waste disposal, occasional EHU glitches.

Liked Nice cafe and shop. Big spaces for campervan with running water and electricity.

Disliked Soo many ticks (not the fault of the site). Nothing to do except the boat (very expensive for our family) and we did go for a walk as a family which we loved except the ticks 🤣

Power optional cement/asphalt RV campsite (large)

Liked We had a good night in our campervan in this quiet & beautifully peaceful setting .
The 24 hour toilet & shower was a bonus & we enjoyed a cooked breakfast at the pier cafe . Interesting place with waterside walk & climb up to the view point by steps .
There's a gift shop & booking office for the loch cruises to check out too .

Disliked Payed for a shower facility but there is no info as to where it is or how to access it on our booking email confirmation .
We arrived after the booking office was closed , but luckily a helpful cafe staff member was just leaving .

Liked Compare price to forestry price of £13 for the night exit at 10am. It’s a great price.

At the pier there are bins and toilets Clean toilets
Shower hot great pressure
Friendly staff.
Quiet
Recycling bins a plus.
Good parking space size.
Fairly flat for motorhome bookings.

Disliked I was surprised that the Cafe did not use local produce. I expected a more traditional fayre.

Power optional cement/asphalt RV campsite (XL)

Liked Great location and great price although I didn't use the shower facility (which I paid an extra £5 for)
toilets were open 24 hours

Disliked I didn't use the shower as I didn't feel safe as a solo traveller, other motorhome owners would have the same key code if I was in there alone and there was no door separating the shower area just a shower screen

Disliked Was ok parking in the car park but after going in a boat trip to the other side of the loch the pitches there were in a stunning location overlooking the loch so wishes we had stayed there.
