  • Dog-friendly 50-acre site in the grounds of a Georgian mansion
  • Spectacular views towards the Venlaw hills
  • On the edge of Peebles and near the river Tweed
Peeps and their pooches – you should come to Rosetta Holiday Park. As it's a sure bet you'll find something to feast your eyes on round these parts, whether that’s the 50 miles of mountain bike trails at Glentress Forest or piles of lovely wares in town… Peebles has lots of artsy attractions and several festivals. Nearby, the river Tweed is internationally famous for salmon fishing too: the Peebles town motto and crest even has three salmon a-leaping up the water. All in all, rather fab. Right on the edge of Peebles, Rosetta Holiday Park is an attentively manicured site which welcomes families and dogs. It's set over 50 acres with spectacular views towards the Venlaw Hills, so it's a feast for your eyes.

Liked: It's an older site that has just been (partially) reopened. Although the facilities are a bit dated, they are extremely clean and we could pitch up right next to one. The town of Peebles is really nice to visit and has everything you need. Friendly warden and we had nice neighbours.

Liked: Really liked the quietness of the grounds, pitches are big enough also with plenty space for football etc.

Disliked: Very disappointed they don’t have a park anymore even though it was said advertised on their website.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, As we explained when you arrived. This is not the website of the current owners. Pitch up is very clear on what we have and don’t have. We also do not allow ball games of any kind. Thank you

Liked: Setting being close to town centre, quiet .

Disliked: Camp is going through a change of owners or something but need to upgrade the website . Toilets are ok but wouldn’t like to be there if camp busy ,main courtyard with cafe , bar etc has been closed and rundown yet still advertised on website .

From the manager: We are not going through a change of owners, We have just reopened the touring area, We were taken over in 2020, Regarding your dislikes.... Our listing on PItch up tells you what we have on the park, Unfortunately the old website belonged to the previous owners and we are in the process of having it removed. If people read the listing before booking, Then they would be aware, we don't have these areas. We allocate a maximum number of pitches so the park does not get full and everyone has a good size pitch. As our other reviews state, we have everything that is advertised on Pitch Up, We are so close to the town which has plenty of bars and cafes.

A very peaceful basic site with clean facilities and friendly staff.

Liked: Our first ever stay with our caravan. The site was lovely and peaceful, plenty spaces to choose from. Toilet blocks a little dated but clean and my partner said the shower was the best he’s ever had! Electric hook up and water points easy to use with no problems. Had a short walk into the lovely town of Peebles. Shops, takeaways right in the doorstep. The site was immaculate and a lovely welcome by the warden on arrival.

Disliked: The only thing we disliked was the fact that the site is a lot more run down from the advert on here. Someone in the town that we spoke to explain that it’s changed ownership recently. There is no longer a “family bar” we had a little drive around the site and found the “hayloft family bar” completely closed down. So that was disappointing and false advertising. There was I would say 6 static caravans and 4 lodges left on the HUGE site. I think the ad on pitch up and the sites own website needs updating as families might book and turn up for the bar and play area which is advertised but which are no longer there. It’s literally touring pitches and toilets - which is fine but basic. The only reason for the lack of stars. Absolutely nothing more to dislike.

From the manager: Thank you for you review. You booked on pitch up and as such everything we have or don't have is listed as it is. 'The touring area' with EHU, toilets, showers and fresh water, chemical waste points are as described and the photos represent how the park is, Most of which are from recent visitors. We were disappointed with your 'dislikes' as they are unfair, The touring area is not run down, as you can see from our other reviews, and the small team here work very hard to keep the touring area and amenities to a high standard for our guests. To review areas that are clearly not open with no signage to say what that area was is disappointing to us. There hasn't been a bar here since 2019. What we advertise on Pitch Up is exactly what we have to offer. We don't say that we have a bar, or play area, The park is waiting for planning approval, Hence the empty bases around private areas of the HUGE site.

Staff very friendly and helpful at all times…

Local attractions

One of the many highlights of the Scottish Borders is that, while the region is rightly popular with savvy holidaymakers, it remains off the mass tourist track so you can gleefully pursue your pastimes without areas becoming overcrowded. Fishing is one of the most popular pursuits in the area is because of Peebles’ proximity to the River Tweed, on the top scale of salmon fishing rivers in the world. Go out on your own with your rod licence or bag a trip/course from one of the many local angling centres nearby; the Tweed and its tributaries yield wild trout and grayling too. Elsewhere in the area, anglers have acres of lochs for coarse fishing and the Berwickshire coast nearby for sea angling – and views – off Eyemouth, Burmouth and St Abbs. The mountain bike trails of Glentress Forest, three miles away, are another big draw for active visitors – the Tweed Bike Festival is held here in May and June and Glentress/Innerleithen are part of the world famous 7stanes mountain biking trails. The award-winning centre at Glentress has trails of all grades and a most modern visitor centre with bike wash, bike hire and a bike shop. The Tweed Love Bike Festival is held at Peebles in early summer, but if you miss it/aren’t a mountain biker, several other festivals cover several other tastes such as arts, jazz, food, Highland Games, Rugby Sevens and the traditional week-long Beltane Festival. Dramatic highlights like shows at the Eastgate can be had at any time of the year, as can sampling fresh local produce in the town’s hotels and restaurants, park and river walks by the Tweed and the prerequisite till-ringing at the Old Town and School Brae. As well as Peebles, the Borders has plenty of other characterful towns to seek out such as Selkirk, Jedburgh, Galashiels and the Borders’ biggest town Hawick; those looking for even brighter lights can make their way to Edinburgh, just 20 miles away.
