  • Peaceful, gently sloping three-acre site 500 metres from the beach
  • A five-minute walk to the South West Coast Path and an activity centre
  • Pub and two restaurants a five-minute walk away; footpaths locally
From paddles in the sea to a stomp along the South West Coast Path, Porlock Weir Campsite is well-situated for a stay on the Devon seaside. The gently sloping three-acre site is part of the peaceful village of Porlock Weir, home to a pebble beach and small harbour, 35 minutes' drive away from Lynton and Lynmouth. You’ll be able to leave the car behind for a while if you wish, as there’s much to do within five minutes’ walk of the site, whether that’s linking up with the South West Coast Path, going for a potter around the beach or fishing trips from the harbour. Around the corner, still just five minutes’ walk away, there’s an activity centre that will quickly get you going with activities from kayaking, paddleboarding and coasteering to mountain biking, rock climbing, archery or bicycle hire. Food won’t be too far away here either, as the village has a pub and two restaurants – fuel for the splendid walking trails that you’ll find in the surrounding area. The nearest farm shop is 10 minutes’ drive away too, in case you want to grab some locally-produced meat for a barbecue back on site. Back on site, the peaceful seaside spot has views over the Bristol Channel and basic facilities, including a portable toilet and a tap with mains drinking water so that you’ll be able to keep your bottle topped up.

Great location near Porlock Weir, with sea views. Reviewers loved the peaceful vibe & helpful owner. Facilities are basic (compost toilet/tap); some found them lacking. Still, praised for value & tranquility.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We love this campsite and so pleased it's open again for the season. Very basic (a single compost loo and a tap) but such a wonderful location and always manages to lift your spirits. Cheap as chips!

Disliked It's a bit slopey so choose your spot. Less nettles than last year and now a bit of phone signal!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked A lovely quiet campsite in a beautiful setting!

The site was just as described. Being able to see (and hear) the sea from our tent was really wonderful, and the view of the bay, hills, and horses from the top of the field made it really special.

We liked how simple the site was - we had just what we needed, the water point was well set-up, and the compost toilet was absolutely fine.

Matthew came round and said hi the evening we arrived, and gave us a few suggestions for walks. We enjoyed exploring the area during our trip, had some great walks, and we liked the cafe in Porlock Weir. We're keen to visit again!

Disliked Nothing! Everything was great.

I thought it would be handy if there was a green waste / compost bin on the site, but that's all I could think of :)

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked A beautiful, simple camping field. I am hiking the coast path so on a budget and at £9 this was perfect. Toilet, bins, and drinking water all on site. I phoned up when I arrived and got told to pitch up where ever I liked, it’s all very relaxed. I headed to the pub in the morning for a coffee, they also serve breakfast. Would 100% recommend

Disliked It is on a hill so keep that in mind. Didn’t bother me too much

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Really beautiful views to the sea, marsh, beach, headland. It has a wildness to it.

Pleasant 5 minute walk down into Porlock Weir. Also some good walks in the woods above the campsite and out across the marshes. A lot more to explore on another visit for sure.

The campsite is great. Plenty of level ground to pitch on and you'll see the sea from pretty much everywhere on the site. Simple setup which is what appealed to us. Really great pricing too and very spacious.

Kids (1.5 and 3.5 years) loved it and great to sit out once they were asleep and share a wine with my wife. Perfect.

The owner is a friendly guy and will make you feel very welcome.

Top marks. We'll come again for sure!

Liked Quiet

Disliked No more than farmers field on a slope, not good for small tent.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Fantastic location with sea views up on the hill. Straightforward campsite with a toilet and the sea available for a morning swim just 5 min walk away. Plenty of space.

Disliked Not flat pitches just so you’re aware, but wasn’t an issue!
