  • Peaceful, gently sloping three-acre site 500 metres from the beach
  • A five-minute walk to the South West Coast Path and an activity centre
  • Pub and two restaurants a five-minute walk away; footpaths locally
From paddles in the sea to a stomp along the South West Coast Path, Porlock Weir Campsite is well-situated for a stay on the Devon seaside. The gently sloping three-acre site is part of the peaceful village of Porlock Weir, home to a pebble beach and small harbour, 35 minutes' drive away from Lynton and Lynmouth. You’ll be able to leave the car behind for a while if you wish, as there’s much to do within five minutes’ walk of the site, whether that’s linking up with the South West Coast Path, going for a potter around the beach or fishing trips from the harbour. Around the corner, still just five minutes’ walk away, there’s an activity centre that will quickly get you going with activities from kayaking, paddleboarding and coasteering to mountain biking, rock climbing, archery or bicycle hire. Food won’t be too far away here either, as the village has a pub and two restaurants – fuel for the splendid walking trails that you’ll find in the surrounding area. The nearest farm shop is 10 minutes’ drive away too, in case you want to grab some locally-produced meat for a barbecue back on site. Back on site, the peaceful seaside spot has views over the Bristol Channel and basic facilities, including a portable toilet and a tap with mains drinking water so that you’ll be able to keep your bottle topped up.

What customers say

Great location near Porlock Weir, with sea views. Reviewers loved the peaceful vibe & helpful owner. Facilities are basic (compost toilet/tap); some found them lacking. Still, praised for value & tranquility.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked A beautiful, simple camping field. I am hiking the coast path so on a budget and at £9 this was perfect. Toilet, bins, and drinking water all on site. I phoned up when I arrived and got told to pitch up where ever I liked, it’s all very relaxed. I headed to the pub in the morning for a coffee, they also serve breakfast. Would 100% recommend

Disliked It is on a hill so keep that in mind. Didn’t bother me too much

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Quiet

Disliked No more than farmers field on a slope, not good for small tent.

From the manager: You are absolutely correct. It is a sloping field and i am indeed a farmer, but you forgot to mention the wonderful views and fantastic location. But thanks very much for coming and good luck with your walk.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Fantastic location with sea views up on the hill. Straightforward campsite with a toilet and the sea available for a morning swim just 5 min walk away. Plenty of space.

Disliked Not flat pitches just so you’re aware, but wasn’t an issue!

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked The location was perfect. Beautiful views out to sea where we spotted 2 porpoises and later a dolphin.
Also really handy for the restaurants , craft shops and walks in Porlock Weir, only a 5 minbutes walk.

Disliked The compost loo wasn't ideal and it would have been good to have water next to it to rinse the sawdust off your hands.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Super spot- small field location, moments from Porlock Weir (short walk). Lovely view of the sea and always great to go to sleep listening to the sea!
The field was clean and all that’s needed.
Our host came to check the site and was very friendly/helpful, ably assisted by his farming sons and Pronto the sheepdog!
Would be great to visit again but my son would be pushing to help on the farm especially if it meant going on the quad!
Many thanks!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked What a beautiful spot! Excellent location and exactly what we needed for a calm end to summer hols.

Disliked Bear in mind that it's really basic field with water tap and compost loo, also that it's sloping. However if you have what you need with you and also pitch your tent at top or bottom of field then it's completely fine - what it lacks in amenities it more than makes up for in location and gorgeous view.
And really affordable too, we'll defs be returning 😊
