  • Well-maintained Exmoor National Park site with views of Porlock Bay
  • A 15-minute drive from Minehead; 35 minutes from Lynton and Lynmouth
  • Climb Dunkery Beacon directly from the site; logs for sale on site
If you’ve been planning on looking around Exmoor National Park, put your plans into motion with a stay at Porlock Bay View Campsite. The relaxed site is set between the ancient oak woodland of the Horner Valley and the wooded valley of Hawkcombe, through which there is a route to the peaceful village of Porlock. On site, there are three toilets, a shower, a couple of washing-up areas and a freezer. Anyone wishing to spend the evening around a campfire can purchase logs on site. The views are very much worthy of putting some time aside to sit down and contemplate, as the farm has views of moorland, rivers and the west Somerset coastline. This is a lovely base for anyone who likes walking, cycling, horse-riding or adventure sports. Climb to Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor, directly from the site. There is plenty of wildlife on the doorstep, and at night, there are dark skies for stargazing. For places with more civilisation, Porlock (10 minutes’ drive) has two small convenience shops, and more extensive supplies can be picked up in Minehead 15 minutes’ drive away. With just a 10-minute drive, it’s also possible to reach village pubs, classic tea rooms and small restaurants.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The camp site is great, very relaxed, quiet and peaceful allowing us some much needed time to slow down and enjoy the world around us from deer early in the morning and arly evening, to pheasant and owls at night.
We absolutely recommend this site for anyone who needs some time out.

Disliked There was nothing we did not like about our stay.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great location, with an amazing view over the sea and some surrounding countryside. Lots of space and very well maintained site. Good toilet and bathroom facilities. Friendly and helpful owner who was kind enough to sell us some firewood late in the evening when we realised it was going to be a chilly night. This allowed us to enjoy a night in front of the fire under an amazing sky full of stars.

From the manager: Great photo of the stars, glad you enjoyed your stay.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great friendly site, ideal if you want to get away from it all. Top field pitches are terraced but head down the bottom field and explore, some great hidden gems to camp on with brilliant views (and nearer to the wash up/toilet and shower. Great shower as well.

Disliked The walk back up from Porlock but we expected it to be hard 😂

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked I booked last minute but was greeted when I arrived by a welcoming owner. Very peaceful and friendly little site. Beautiful sunset.

Disliked Bit of a hill to the shower but an emergency loo and sinks are not far. Loved the quirky facilities.
