  • Family-friendly Dorset site with views over the Tarrant Valley
  • A 10-minute drive from Blandford Forum; half an hour to West Lulworth
  • Set on a working farm, a mile from an independent café and farm shop
Surrounded by tree-lined country lanes and gentle green hills, Little Hundreds Campsite is a quiet campsite deep in rural Dorset. This Tarrant Crawford spot borders Little Hundreds coppice, where there's plenty of leafy shade to escape to on hot summer's days. You can look forward to fantastic views whatever the weather at this rural site: to the south, you have vistas over meadows that roll down towards the Stour river, while to the north the farmland just stretches on and on… This laidback site has basic facilities like toilets, showers and a washing-up area, as well as handy extras like solar charging points. In addition, this relaxed spot gives you the freedom to pitch your tent wherever you choose and allows campfires in the designated areas. There are also firepits – with wood on site – available to hire to help arrange campfire evenings with minimal hassle. The site is a few minutes' walk from the footpaths that run up and down the Tarrant Valley and is roughly a mile from an independent farm shop and café. The market town of Blandford Forum (10 minutes' drive) is a short drive away if you’re looking for restaurants or a supermarket; it's also accessible via a quiet cycle path that runs along a flat former railway line.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (two person)

Liked Very easy to book and only 15 mins from our Sat pm venue.
Clean and organised with beautiful pots of flowers and wooden clad toilets.
A stack of half raised metal barrels to use as fire pits is an excellent addition.
Peaceful with pretty views and a friendly young couple near us with brand new kit as first time campers!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (solo)

Liked Beauty, tranquility, minimal intervention, carefully-placed subtle solar-lighting, small bouquets of meadow flowers in toilets.
In an ideal future world, there will be a set of compost toilets installed in the other corner of the field…
Amazingly there were (airy, sweet-smelling) compost toilets at the End of the Road music festival. Impressed everyone.

Liked Lovely little campsite. Owner was friendly, told us where to find everything. Showers great with hot water. Toilets clean. Fire alowed and wood can be purchased on site. Drinking water available too. We are family of 4 with 2 small kids. All we wanted was small quiet campsite with showers and toilets. So this place was perfect for us. Really enjoyed it.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (two person)

Liked Hot, clean showers with plenty of space to change. Clean toilets. Charging point for mobiles. Other campers were clearly enjoying their log burners in the evening. The owner/manager was very friendly and couldn't be more helpful in guiding us to local pubs etc... We were cycling from Bristol to Bournemouth and found this to be a good location for our onward cycle. The views were really good, so we decided to cook our own food on site rather than visit one of the many pubs located within a few miles.

Disliked Drinking water was 100m distant from the toilet and washing facilities. A small inconvenience.

Local attractions

Surround yourself with the rustling of leaves, fragrant scents and gorgeous blooms at Keyneston Mill (15 minutes' walk), a small-scale botanical garden that produces sweet-smelling plants for its line of luxury perfumes. Live music events, arts workshops and guided garden tours are all available here, so have a look at what's on during your visit and book in advance to avoid disappointment. Days out along the Jurassic Coast area are easily arranged at Little Hundreds Campsite: Lulworth Cove is only half an hour away by road, while other pretty coastal locations like Kimmeridge Bay (35 minutes) are easily accessible too. However much time you spend at the coast, don't ignore Dorset's gorgeous hinterland: from the cobbled streets of Shaftesbury (30 minutes) to the ruins of Corfe Castle and the Isle of Purbeck's steam railway (30 minutes), there's something for all the family. For more time outdoors, bring your clubs along and head to Ashley Woods Golf Club (10 minutes' drive), or explore the National Trust-maintained gardens and grounds at Kingston Lacy (10 minutes), one of the prettiest country estates in Dorset.
