Guests return season after season to serene Osmington Mills Corner Campsite in its Dorset coast setting just outside the village of Osmington: it's been family run for over 60 years and has Dorset site stays down pat. Spacious pitches, room for kids to run around, and scenic views towards Weymouth four miles away are the secrets of its success, along with a peaceful rural vibe, restaurants nearby, and the site's closeness to the sea, a mile from the beaches of the Jurassic Coast. You can easily access the region's spectacular walks from here too, as a footpath leads from the site to the coast to connect with the South West Coast Path. (Or if that's a no thanks to the walk, a bus stop is just outside the site with services running to Weymouth.) Osmington has toilets, showers, a washing-up area and the means for ice pack freezing and gadget charging. A shop is next door to the site, and pubs and restaurants are within walking distance.

Liked Ease of finding a pitch, large site, no allocated pitches. The facilities were basic (toilet block/showers) but clean, my son has OCD and ADHD, so if he's happy to use them and comfortable on site, then I'm happy

Liked Warm welcome, plenty of space, clean facilities, delicious Thai takeaway delivered,

Disliked The mirrors in the ladies were too high for me to use. I am 5ft 2. The addition of one lower mirror would be much appreciated.
There were no toilet brushes in the ladies toilets.

Disliked Showers were incredibly basic with very weak water pressure. But a hot shower non the less

Get out onto the South West Coast Path close to the site, try your hand at fishing for Dorset mackerel, canter along the coast on horseback, take a boat out, or up the ante with some kayaking or zorbing… all available nearby. Weymouth, four miles away, has been a famed Dorset seaside spot since Georgian times and these days has stacks to do such as sailing and surfing (several surf schools are around if you're just starting out), a long sandy beach and a Sea Life Centre, miniature railway and RSPB reserve above the town at Lodmoor Country Park. More famed Dorset days can be had with fossil hunting on Chesil Beach, six miles away, and taking in the sight of spectacular Durdle Door at Lulworth Cove, within seven miles of the site. You could also chatter with the inhabitants of Monkey World, see the swans at the award-winning Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, or steam along to the Tank Museum at Bovington, all reachable within 10 miles.
