Wander off into the woods on foot or make a plan to tour the area's historical landmarks… either way, the luxury ensuite camping pods at Lye Hill Holidays are all geared up for getaways both peaceful and action-packed. These pods are on the edge of the National Trust’s ancient Duncliffe Wood, as well as being 25 minutes’ drive from Stourhead, 35 minutes from Longleat Safari Park and 40 minutes from Stonehenge.
These cedar wood pods are on an old dairy farm, so you'll be entirely surrounded by the peace and quiet of classic countryside. At the same time, it's easy to get your seaside fix from here, with the coast around an hour’s drive away. The site is centrally located in Dorset, so you should find plenty to see and do nearby, from museums and race days to fishing, coastal walks and strolls through historic gardens.
Equipped with all the essentials, the heated pods are cosy as can be, with modern facilities (including a small kitchen, a TV and an ensuite shower room) and stunning views. A barbecue is provided to make outdoor meals straightforward, and there are lots of tasty bits available at the farm shop under two miles away – just take the 40-minute stroll there or jump in the car and get there in under five minutes. With two country pubs under three miles away, there’s plenty of scope for dining out if you’d prefer.

Liked Absolutely beautiful location, pods are well equipped and very comfortable. Lots of fun activities and fabulous wildlife. Will definitely be coming back!

Liked Lovely seeing and pods were maintained to very high standard. Spacious for 2 but family might be a bit tighter. Although plenty of space for them to run around and outside area lovely and an extension of inside.

Local attractions
A drive through the safari park at Longleat (35 minutes’ drive) is generally one of its highlights, but the grounds of this Elizabethan house also offer up more choices on the activity front, from the maze to the miniature railway that goes around the woods.
With one historic place under your belt, next up could be the car and motorbike exhibitions at Haynes International Motor Museum (25 minutes) or the Palladian house and gardens at the National Trust’s Stourhead (25 minutes). Another of Dorset’s well-known landscapes is the pretty Gold Hill (10 minutes) in Shaftesbury – just be prepared for the climb up the cobbles.
When you fancy some seaside air instead, the Dorset coast is easily doable for a day trip. Take on the Weymouth waves by paddleboard, sea kayak or boat (an hour) or continue your tour of the beaches around Bournemouth (an hour and 10 minutes) and Swanage (an hour and 10 minutes).
For activities that are closer by, you could check out the racing calendar for Wincanton Racecourse (20 minutes) or get into fishing mode at the Todber Manor Fisheries (five minutes), where carp and coarse fishing are available.
