What customers say

This immaculately kept campsite is praised for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful lakeside pitches, and abundance of wildlife. Visitors highlight the exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of the owners, Phil and Mandy, who ensure the site and its four fishing lakes are well-maintained. Facilities, including showers and toilets, are consistently described as clean and well-kept, though some note they are a little dated. The site is considered ideal for fishing enthusiasts and those seeking a relaxing getaway in a tranquil, natural setting.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked What an amazing campsite, the owners are friendly and really take the time to show you around. The facilities are clean and tidy. Quiet after 10pm. Real personal touch. If you like fishing then there is lakes for you to fish on. The campsite is central to most places. We really enjoyed staying here. It was myself as a single mum with 2 teenagers age 16, 17 then a 9 year old.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (waterside)

Liked What a great caravan park. Our second time of visiting. Warm and friendly greeting from Phil and Mandy. The whole area was in lovely standard and the fishing was great. No issues with electrics like I had read from other reviews. Nor was there any issues from any of our 3 caravan party. Phil in particular was extremely helpful be that with anything site related or with advice on the lakes. We look forward to coming back soon. Anthony, Andrea, Declan and Frank the Cocker Spaniel.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (waterside)

Liked Fairly quiet.

Disliked Being by the lake meant that you had people fishing just 2 mtr behind your van. This was from 7am til 7pm or later. It did not feel like you had any privacy.
Mainly seasonal pitches, site felt a bit crammed.

Local attractions

Cerne Abbas has been called ‘Britain’s most desirable village’ to live in and it’s easy to see why. Start stays with a ramble around the stunningly pretty village, stopping in at the pubs to sample the local beer and tottering along to Cerne Abbey where the village’s tradition of brewing began. Of course, beer isn’t what Cerne Abbas is most famous for, so a trip to the Cerne Abbas Giant (a chalk hill figure of a happily anatomically correct man) comes highly recommended. There’s a viewing spot in the village and closer looks are a stroll away along a waymarked circular trail managed by the National Trust. If naked desires (sorry) skew more towards grand estates, Minterne House and Gardens are less than five minutes from base – the house isn’t open to the public, but it’s a spectacular backdrop to wanders among Himalayan gardens, designed in the style of Capability Brown. More urban days are within easy reach at Dorchester, 20 minutes away. The town is the birthplace of Thomas Hardy, and visits to Hardy’s Cottage and his home later in life (Max Gate) are absolute musts. It’s not just literary history here either: there’s the Tutankhamun Exhibition, a Roman amphitheatre, a display of Terracotta Warrior replicas, and a handful of museums for everything from teddy bears to dinosaurs.
