There’s nothing fossilised about a stay at Newlands Holiday Park, a stone’s throw away from the Jurassic Coast on the Devon/Dorset border, where the staff and facilities should cater to your every holiday need. For example, this lush place has two separate play areas for the mini guests. There's also an indoor heated pool – and an outdoor one with loungers so you can bask in the sun and wonder where the kids get all that energy… More? There's an indoor soft play area. Also use family-run Newlands as a base for a Lyme Regis fossil-hunting holiday or just lounge about on site; either way, epic times are on the cards. The 23-acre landscaped park has all the facilities you’d expect from a thoroughly modern site: internet access and clean up-to-date amenities including hot showers and a launderette. Liked Great onsite facilities, friendly staff with lovely views of hills. The walk to Charmouth beach was about 15minutes and the coastal walk to Lyme Regis was about one hour with some good hills to climb. The bus stopped outside the site making the access further a field easy.

Disliked Bus stop opposite site needs bigger pavement area for safety .....not really anything to do eith Newlands

Camping pod

Liked Large territory with various accommodation options, motel, lodge, caravan or tent.
Very clean, refreshing outdoor pool at the leisure centre that was just what we needed during the heatwave. We stayed just for one night Sunday to Monday mid July and it wasn't overcrowded closer to the closing time of 6pm.

Toilet and shower blocks are in decent condition.

Breakfast at the Tow Bar was good. You get a huge pot of tea for 1 person.

Our little pod only had 1 double bed and 2 singles, you have to bring everything with you but they do warn you about it in your booking confirmation. It gets super hot during the day but was nice and cool at night with an open window.

Very late check in and early check out.
But you are allowed to use park's facilities before 3pm and after the check out at 10:30 which is great!

Nice stone beach nearby or drive to Lyme Regis Park and Drive, grab £3.50 bus to the beach and enjoy fish and chips by the sea for £12.80 each.

Disliked Breakfast starting at 9am, too long wait, slightly small electric pitches, and sometimes I’ve found a little cockroach in the toilet block. A gate entry for the hill to the beach direct would be nice.

Liked Size of pitch. We had the smallest caravan and the largest pitch. Utilities were tidy. Toilets were good (only wish men would learn how to clean and flush a toilet).

Disliked Shower block grouting needs a good scrub in places particularly in the showers by the drains.
No hose on the waste water hose.

Charmouth is the gateway to the Jurassic Coast and has some of the best fossils to be found in Dorset: the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre has fossil collections and guided fossil walks and is where you can proudly bring in your very own fossil find to be identified. The beach is a 15-minute walk from Newlands: stroll from here to Lyme Regis keeping your head down for more fossily finds, then wander around Lyme to take a look at Cobb Harbour (made famous in Jane Austen’s Persuasion); buy freshly ground flour at the 14th-century watermill; amble along to at the ammonites, exhibitions and events at the museum, or tee off on the cliff at Lyme Regis Golf Club. Mini fossil-hunters will likely be monster fans of the award-winning Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, and taking a detour while in town to the Teddy Bear Museum. If they’re watery types, they’ll have a whale of a time at the Splashdown Water Park in Poole and the walk-through underwater tunnel at the Bournemouth Oceanarium. Closer to Newlands and Dino Dan, families can see zebras and meerkats at the Axe Valley Wildlife Park, trundle along on the Seaton Tramway for a scenic trip through the estuary of the River Axe, or feed a shoal of fish at Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium.
