Jenns Farm is a three-acre back-to-basics site, a few minutes’ drive from Bradworthy village – or a half-hour walk if you’re up for venturing down the country lanes.
This is a fine choice for seeing more of two counties; the site is in Devon, but it’s a mere 15 minutes’ drive to Cornwall’s Bude, where gorgeous beaches and fab surfing spots await.
As this is an off-grid site, the facilities here are pretty simple, but with compost toilets and eco-showers, the basics are covered… plus, you’ll have the feel-good factor of opting for a low-impact stay.
The farm is actually a market garden that supplies the local community with fresh produce daily. During your stay, you’ll get the same treatment; the team are happy to take orders for things like bread, milk and eggs prior to your arrival, and the market garden will be open every day for fresh produce delivered directly to your tent. Barbecues are permitted, so you’ll be able to grill some tasty local grub.
Kids and dogs are welcome here, providing they are kept under control (that goes for both of them), and the team prefer noise to be kept to a minimum after 9pm – but being in a dark sky area, you’ll relish the quiet nights spent stargazing. Campfires are permitted in designated areas and there is a small fire circle away from the main site if you want to chat long into the night.
