  • Family-friendly and family-run site with walks down to Lee Bay
  • Set on 27 peaceful acres a couple of miles from Woolacombe
  • Farm shop and e-bike/bike hire: trails straight from the farm
Traditional Devon farm stays are the name of the game at family-owned and -run Lee Meadow Farm a couple of miles from the sands and surf of Woolacombe, set among 27 acres with woodland views on one side and Devon hills on the other, and with views of the Bristol Channel towards Wales. There is a licensed farm shop here too, selling local free-range eggs and lots of fresh local produce. Just a few of the things on offer are hot breakfasts in a box, lunches, homemade cream teas, chocolate brownies and local ciders and ales, wine and beer. With a walk through the woods, guests can also reach a splendid pub in Lee which serves food. Easy walks and bike rides are simple to access straight from the farm, and the safe cycling of the former Ilfracombe branch line is just at the end of the farm lane. There's plenty of space on site for kids to run about too. Facilities are well kept and include free hot showers, flushing toilets and washing-up sinks; a disabled shower and toilet facilities plus a baby changing area and a token-operated hairdryer. E-bike and cycle hire is available on site. And finally, the two pubs within walking distance selling fine ales, cider and food are faves with the locals – always a good sign for pubs…

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Quiet relaxed campsite, with well stocked farm shop, and clean bathroom and shower block as well as large washing up area. The sunsets over the sea view were the best bit.

Disliked Minor point that the grass was a bit long when we arrived, which meant your feet got wet walking to the toilet and unfortunately also and hid dog poo left by an inconsiderate camper (which isn't the fault of the campsite) but this was probably just due to timing of our mid week arrival

From the manager: Thank you what a beautiful picture :-)

Powered grass campsite

Liked First of all, the owner was incredibly friendly. The location is quiet with a beautiful sea view, making it the perfect romantic spot to watch the sunset. The site also has a shop and kitchen where you can order breakfast and coffee. The showers and toilets were clean, and a lovely beach is just a few minutes away. Overall, we absolutely loved this place!

Liked The location is stunning and very good for the local beaches. The facilities are also very good.

Disliked Nothing really to dislike. The freezer for ice packs was useful, but would also be useful to have a fridge.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked The camping was amazing ! We chose a pitch by the trees which was more protected from the elements.
Wonderful view from the other side of the camping.
Lots of clean showers and toilets. The dish washing facility was great as well.
Fab Farm shop on site which served great food , pasties , coffee and essentials. Very handy as we are bored of trips to the super market all the time ! Kids ate a very tasty warm sausage roll every morning 😄
The reception had everything you needed - we forgot cutlery and needed some extra pegs and we could buy them from their shop !
We hired bikes and kids played around the campsite and the ramp .
There is a nice walk towards the town Lee which is fab and Lee beach is great ! Next to it there is Sandy cove which is perfect for swimming!
Amazing beaches around the area - Broadsands bay was fantastic as well - steep steps though so make sure you are up for a workout !
We had a wonderful trip to Devon and the camping just made it even better :)
We also hired a fire pit which was quite handy !

Disliked Everything was great there was nothing we disliked to be honest !

From the manager: What an amazing review thank you so much for taking the time to let us and everyone else know how much you enjoyed your stay lovely pictures to :-)

See you very soon hopefully
Thanks again for the time taken its always appreciated from the Lee meadow Team :-)

Primitive grass campsite

Liked * good facilities
* little food shop on site
* they also serve breakfast and dinner sometimes
* good for kids

Disliked * more inland, not that close to the beach

From the manager: Thank you for your review not sure inland describes us its 5 min drive down the hill any closer you would be camping on the cliff :-)
Glad you liked the site and our facilities hope to see you again sometime :-)

Local attractions

Seven miles of golden sand beaches, surfing, diving, kayaking and shore and boat fishing are all within a few minutes' drive of the farm; on land, mountain biking, hiking, golf, horse riding and quad biking are all available locally. Within a 10-minute drive are Croyde, Putsborough, Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows, the biggest sand dune system in the UK and part of North Devon's Biosphere Reserve, Britain's first. The dunes are also a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a national nature reserve and a Special Area of Conservation for their 400+ species of plant: take a picnic of Lee Meadow Farm produce and see how many you can spot. The small fishing villages of Clovelly, Lynton and Lynmouth are also nearby, as are the dozens of old villages, scenic coastal walks, moorland and rivers of Exmoor National Park, worth at least a couple of days for its 620 or so miles of footpaths and bridleways, its cycle paths, its climbing, sea fishing, canoeing and kayaking.
