What customers say

Beautiful lake views, quiet with lots of space. Pitches mostly clean & level with good access. Basic but clean showers. Great for watersports & walking. Some privacy concerns in showers, drainage issues, and a wish for a cafe/shop. A few dog-off-lead comments, and one mention of dirty facilities.

Powered grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked The site was very quiet, peaceful. The lake was beautiful. We really enjoyed watching the wildlife, especially the rabbits!
The facilities were clean, no complaints.

Disliked I wish there was a fridge available for use and a playground. The photos are somewhat misleading showing the playground at the cafe which isn’t walking distance with children. You have to drive there, albeit not far, it’s still inconvenient.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Stunning views, quiet location. Excellent pitch, access to nice walks. Peaceful.

Disliked I look for sites that are dog friendly and stipulate dogs on leads only which this site was advertised as and has several signs stating the fact, having a reactive dog myself who is always on lead non aggressive but can feel threatened when approached by another off lead dog, our neighbours left and right completely disregarded this rule, despite the dog running over to my van constantly and being barked and growled out she continues to let her dog off free on its own to run around the entire field of pitches, the dog also chased a child on a bike who fell off scared, the owner apologised but still continued not to put her dog on lead, Although this isn’t the owners fault directly I do think they should be aware and have wardens checking the site and the that guests are respecting the rules, it’s not for other campers to have to report as it could cause animosity which isn’t the guest responsibility, as it was we had to sit inside and not outside due to this.

Primitive grass RV, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great site, stayed on an all grass pitch in our 7m motor home, plenty of space, not squeezed at all. Lake was amazing, hired a boat and fished all day. Friendly, helpful staff - we’ll definitely stay again.

Disliked Quite a bumpy road/route to get there in our large van but manageable. Café is fab but fair walk to get there from the site. Apart from that highly recommended

Powered grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked Everything about the place is wonderful. Having been to both Tamar Lakes and Wimbleball this is far better. 4G on phone so internet is there if needed. Views of lakes is brilliant if you get the right pitch. Toilet and shower blokes basic but clean and had hot water every time I went in. The staff are lovely, friendly and very helpful. As it’s geared to water sports activities the camp site is really just an extra so don’t expect heated pools and fully stocked shops as you won’t get it. There is a little shop in reception but only basic essentials and you can do the 1.5 mile walk round the lake the lovely little cafe but wear sensible shoes as it’s a bit of a trek through woods.

Disliked Nothing really it’s all good

Local attractions

Due to its handy proximity to the A30 and its setting on the Devon and Cornwall border, Roadford Lake Campsite is a nifty base for sightseeing, seaside days, city shopping and active days out. It’s easy to dart across to the moor from here too, to check out Canonteign Falls and the ponies of Dartmoor National Park. Head north or south to explore the Devon and Cornish coasts: comely fishing villages, fab surfing beaches and large stretches of the 600-mile South West Coast Path are within easy reach. Tintagel Castle, said to be the birthplace of King Arthur, would make a good place to start. Under an hour’s drive away are Exeter, Plymouth and beach towns Newquay and Bude.
