Try a Ruda wakening instead: after a blissfully peaceful lie-in, take a gulp of fresh, clean air and stroll a few steps down to the golden sands and sparkling waves… Ruda Holiday Park sits right alongside the sweeping sandy surfing beach of Croyde Bay on Devon’s Gold Coast. Croyde is a popular destination for surfers, and it’d be rude not to have a go while you’re here. Guests can hire a variety of boards, wetsuits and other kit from Ruda Holiday Park’s dedicated surf shop, and instructors from the renowned Surf South West school are on hand if you want lessons. If the weather isn't playing nice, head for Ruda’s tropical indoor pool complex, where there are water rapids and underwater geysers, waterfalls, hydrojets and one humongous slide. This site is great for kids of all ages, with the children's club, adventure playground, indoor soft play area, tennis court and activities like 'tots and tunes' or character dining (this last one's during high season only). There's also a good choice of on-site food options, including a beach café and an ice-cream parlour, plus a sprightly schedule of evening entertainment, and comprehensive essential amenities.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (no pets)

Liked Loved the location. Beach was a few minutes walk and it's absolutely amazing. Had a great time and I will definitely come back

Liked Location close to the beach and baggy point for walking.

Disliked Crammed site, not even 1m between tents let alone the usual standard 6m for safety.
Tents overhanging pitches and encroaching others pitches too.
Loud music and very loud people until 3am, disruptive for everyone else on site, seemed to be nothing being done by the park staff sadly.
Disappointing as really could be a great site! Safety wise in the current climate though high fire risk site!

Liked Swimming pool was great for our 8 year old, had trouble amending booking but when we got there the staff sorted it all out. Close to beach as well, with good facilities.

Disliked Not cheap compared to normal camping. Also didn’t realise I needed a special hook up for the electric so had to buy there (my fault for not investigating)

Don’t miss the chance to explore the Devonshire coastline surrounding Ruda Holiday Park. Recommendations include a walk to the headland at Baggy Point where you’ll be rewarded with outstanding views; a saunter along spectacular Saunton Sands, and a delve into the dunes at Braunton Burrows. Croyde is a perfectly pretty village of thatched cottages, tearooms, pubs, restaurants, cafés and (but of course) surf shops. There are umpteen visitor attractions in the area, particularly for animal enthusiasts, who can come face to face with life-sized model dinosaurs and a host of their living, breathing descendants at Combe Martin Wildlife Park; practise their trout pouts on some fishy friends at Ilfracombe’s aquarium; or get hands on with the animals at the Big Sheep, the area’s most eccentric day out: sheep racing and stunt ducks, anyone…?
