Dog friendly pitches

  • Peaceful, spacious pitches in Cornwall with spectacular views
  • A 20-minute drive from beaches; walk to shops and restaurants
  • Fully equipped kitchen and hot showers; a 40-minute drive from St Ives
Fancy a break on a spacious, friendly and peaceful site with plenty of mod cons and the chance to get out into bracing Cornish air? That sounds a lot like Wesley House Campsite near Redruth, where you can also (hopefully) experience dramatic sunrises and sunsets – and the Milky Way twinkling in dark skies at night. You have a choice of three meadows set in four acres, so you can just turn up and pitch where you want. There’s plenty of space for any size of tent, so no sardines here, but you may have to share your space with the odd resident rabbit, pheasant or even a passing deer. Hot showers and toilet facilities are centrally located in the middle paddock, together with a kitchen area with a communal fridge, microwave and hot-water washing-up facilities. The site is well located for exploring the whole of Cornwall, with myriad places for day trips including Falmouth (25 minutes’ drive), St Michael’s Mount and St Ives (both 40 minutes). There is surfing off Porthtowan (15 minutes), Perranporth (25 minutes) and Three Mile Beach at Gwithian (20 minutes). For hikers, the site is adjacent to the Tresavean Trail (two minutes' walk), linking into the network of trails stretching from coast to coast across Cornwall.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Beautiful area with stunning views over the county. Martin was very welcoming and helpful. Facilities were very clean and well thought out. Each pitch was provided with a nice strong bench table. Weather wasn't great but that can't be helped.

Disliked Grass was long but Martin acknowledged that in the beginning. Only mattered in this instance because it was raining so extra wet underfoot.

From the manager: We're so pleased you had a fabulous stay.
Sadly the grass was longer than usual because we had an issue with the mower carburetta and had to wait for it to be delivered from China as there wasn't one anywhere in this country.
You'll be pleased to know that the situation is now resolved :).

Great site & location. We had a great stay. Thank you!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Chatting with site proprietors Sam and Martin (thanks for sharing good stories!), camp spaciousness, facilities (brilliant showers, clean toilets and a kitchen with sink and fridge), tranquility (site is far from big roads or towns), fabulous views and proximity to key tourist spots:))

Disliked Nothing to dislike. The place is awesome.

From the manager: Thank you so much for leaving your review - we're delighted that you enjoyed you stay and hope to see you again.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked The views
The shower were pretty good but there is only 2 for the hole site and also only 2 toilets.

Disliked No flat land to park or pitch on
Also the driveway in is very bumpy and steep.

From the manager: We are deeply disheartened that you didn't enjoy your short stay.
We are a small, family run site with few pitches and we have many repeat bookings from locals and those travelling from as far away as Scotland to specifically stay at our site and we have guests that wish to extend their stay once they get here.
Our camping guests choose where they want to pitch upon arrival. There are plenty of level areas, but some prefer a more secluded spot even though it might have a very gentle slope.
We pride ourselves in giving a friendly, personal service and we are saddened that you felt we did not come up to your expectations.
We wish you all the best for your future camping trips.

Rob S.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked We liked everything about this site. Our pitch was fantastic, a lot of the site was slopping but our pitch and some others were perfectly flat with nice short grass. All we could see were trees and grass and fantastic view for miles. Toilets and showers were spotless. It felt nice and wild but we had all the facilities we needed, showers, a kitchen, microwave, freezer etc..
There wasn't any WIFI (we didn't actually check this) but we got a 4G signal so we didn't need it anyway.

Hosts were also very helpful and friendly

Disliked Nothing to dislike

From the manager: Thank you Rob for your lovely review. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay.
Sadly we are really not big enough to supply wifi and as you know, we're constantly improving, so you never know. Likewise, the general site is on a gentle slope and so far we have moved the mountain and created enough flat pitches for the maximum number that we cater for. On the plus side, drainage is excellent and we don't want to add any more pitches as it would spoil the feeling of the place.
We look forward to seeing you again :)x

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very warm & welcoming couple that go out of their way to help you. All facilities were very clean. Very quiet and peaceful place to camp & explore from.

Disliked No dislikes.
Only small quibble not many flat pitches, but don't let that put you off if you don't mind being on bit of a slope with fantastic views.

From the manager: Thank you for your 10/10 review Michael. You can pitch where you want when you arrive so hopefully you'll choose a better spot next time.
Best wishes Sam & Martin
