Beach types – take a look at this for a base for your Cornwall break. Harlyn Sights is a family-run campsite about 15 minutes’ walk from Harlyn Bay and with a lengthy list of other glorious Cornwall beaches within easy reach too (this is the place to stay if you'd like to tick off Trevone Bay, Porthcothan Bay, Mother Ivey’s Bay, Constantine Bay…) As well as all those lovely stretches of sand, you’ll also be within easy reach of the local village of St Merryn, which is about 10 minutes' walk away for a convenience store, a bakery, a couple of pubs and that all-important fish and chip shop. There are plenty more eating options 10 minutes' drive away in foodie hotspot Padstow, and that’s the place to pick up the ferry to Rock as well. Surfing, swims, watersports, coast path hikes and various family attractions are likely to fill your days here, so it’s good to know that a hot shower and a decent night’s sleep beckon back at base. Those showers are in individual shower shacks, and there are other facilities here including individual mains flushing toilets, washing-up sinks and recycling/rubbish facilities. Kids and dogs are welcome at this small and well-kept site, which is aimed at peaceful stays and doesn't accept stag/hen parties or large single-sex groups. Pitches are pleasingly level and generously sized, with space for kids to run about and play games. You’re welcome to bring barbecues and small firepits, but please keep them off the ground to avoid damage to the grass.

A small, tidy site with level pitches. Guests rave about the spotless washrooms and hot showers. Excellent location for walking to pubs, shops, and beaches, though some road walking needed. Friendly host James is a highlight. Basic but peaceful. Hot water for washing-up coming in 2026.

Liked Very clean and well maintained. Good toilets and showers as well as an area to wash wetsuits etc. Great location for Harlyn beach

Liked Not overcrowded, great location, simple campsite, with very clean facilities. James was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back due to the proximity to great beaches (walking distance).

Liked As usual LOVED everything about this campsite, James is so helpful and the toilets and showers are amazing! Love the new addition of the wetsuit/swim drying section! You never feel like your too close to other campers and generally now look forward to a yearly trip here!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Superb location with a great view of the sea and a short walk to a beautiful beach. Very friendly on site. Even offered us to keep our car on site on the last day to enjoy the beach. Clean facilities. Large spaces for tents and it wasn't crammed. Definitely recommend.

Disliked No dislikes - other than the fact that I can't spend every weekend there.

Local attractions

Get set for a seaside break stuffed with variety – the nearest beach is Harlyn Bay (15 minutes’ walk), a lovely sandy stretch with rockpools to poke about in, good waves for novice surfers and lifeguards on duty in summer to keep everyone safe. From there you can take scenic walks to Trevose Head Lighthouse or pick one of the other beaches in the area – Trevone Bay, Treyarnon Bay, Mother Ivey's Bay, Booby’s Bay and Constantine Bay are all within sensible walking distance along the coast path, or you can drive/bike to each one in a few minutes. For other outings, head into Padstow for wildlife-watching boat trips, crazy golf and a visit to the National Lobster Hatchery, plus some top-notch eats. Away from the coast, kids can meet farm animals, ride ponies and have a go on the go-karts at MacDonald’s Farm and there are bigger rides and a 5D cinema at Camel Creek Family Theme Park (all about 10 minutes' drive).
