  • Sheltered family-friendly site powered by sustainable solar energy
  • Countryside setting, 10 minutes’ drive from Newquay's beaches
  • Heated outdoor pool, café, shop, bar and playground on site
Planning a trip to Newquay to hit the waves on its famed surfing beaches, explore dramatic coastal scenery and tuck into classic Cornish pasties? Treloy Touring Park is a top choice: an award-winning countryside retreat just a 10-minute drive from Newquay and its superb beaches. Despite its proximity to Newquay, this spot is tucked away from the crowds, and it caters exclusively to families and couples looking for an outdoor break with a touch of luxury (and a heated outdoor pool). Holidaymakers will stay on generously sized pitches with access to facilities such as individual washrooms, an accessible shower room, parent and baby rooms and family bathrooms. There's also a high-speed wifi service so you can keep up with the world around you. The café/takeaway cooks delicious locally sourced food and there’s a shop that’s handy for essentials, camping items or fresh coffees, croissants and Cornish pasties. Kids can be entertained at the play area, which has a zipwire, swings, slides and an accessible basket swing, or you can take them wildlife spotting at the nature reserve's pond or the woodland trail. The family-friendly bar is the place to be in the evenings during the school holidays, when you can join in with bingo nights and pub quizzes. The bar has indoor seating as well as a terrace with a pergola, so there should be plenty of space to meet friends or hang out with the family. The sheltered location, only four miles from Newquay, makes this an excellent base for exploring stunning beaches, coastal paths, villages and Cornwall’s top attractions. Plus, the nearby Treloy golf course – with a driving range, nine-hole course, golf shop with club hire and a licensed clubhouse – is 15 minutes’ walk up the road and has concessionary prices for the site’s guests.

Local attractions

Treloy is in a first-class location whether your interests are coast- or countryside-based, with fishing, golfing, cycling and main attractions like the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan all within easy reach. One or more of the 11 beaches in and around Newquay will be most holidaymakers’ first stop. Family beaches such as Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay are a few minutes’ drive from Treloy: both Mawgan and Watergate are lifeguarded in the summer and Watergate has safe swimming areas for kids. On land, Newquay and its surroundings have plenty going on too: try Trenance Gardens (part of Trenance Leisure Park), where there is more than enough to tire the kids out with the boating lake, crazy golf, play areas, nature trails, the flumes and pools of Waterworld and one of the miniature trains, the Little Western Railway. Blue Reef Aquarium and Lappa Valley Steam Railway should hold the attention of even the most fidgety youngster, but if not, Camel Creek is half an hour away. Kids thoroughly tired out? Onto more grownup activities such as an evening at Newquay’s four-screen cinema, or angle for some fishing: coarse fishing at Porth Reservoir, a mile from Treloy, or a half/full day sea fishing trip from Newquay harbour. The South West Coast Path runs behind Watergate Bay – hike from here to Mawgan Porth – and for two-wheelers, the Padstow to Wadebridge leg of the Camel Trail is an easy traffic-free five-mile cycle.

Liked Facilities - immaculate, well cared for and maintained. The shop was well stocked and very handy plus a bakery which was very welcome! The pool and bar were also clean considering the constant use, were incredibly well maintained!

The pitches - tall hedges lined the ‘zones’ creating shelter from wind and some shade when needed and a sense of privacy and quiet. There were lots of trees so it didn’t feel really open like some sites can. Each pitch was clearly labelled. Each pitch was also bordered by smaller hedges making it easy to see and stay within the space you have! The pitches were a great size. We have a 6 person tent and we had room for our car and space to spare. Some of the pitches of the same size even managed to get bigger tents on. They were mowed when vacated and all were well looked after. There were also lights on the ‘zones’ helping to move around on a night. Amenities were central and within easy reach from anywhere on site.

Everything was clean, well looked after and finished to an incredibly high standard. You can see how the site has won awards! We’ve stayed at many sites across the Newquay and Padstow area and this is the best one for quality and value for money.

You are close to Newquay and not far from other key towns and lots of beaches and activities! It’s well signposted and easy to find.

The site has a lovely welcoming feel to it. A really friendly vibe. Lots of families but some smaller groups too, making for a nice mix of people. There was plenty of space for the children to play and it was easy for them to find their way around too!

Disliked There was nothing to dislike!

However, you can hear Boardmasters festival from the site so if you are wanting the peace and quiet at night, maybe coming when Boardmasters is on isn’t the time for you!! It really didn’t bother us but I could see how it could bother some people.

Disliked Gravel path leading to the pitches. Distance to toilets from the pitch we were on. Food at the cafe was very basic compared to how it was described. Drinks very expensive. £20 for 2 small cocktails by the pool
